October 23, 200718 yr OK lets stop comparing SC with the likes of Purdue and Michigan State... two teams who usually start off hot against weak teams that make their offenses look good, and then fizzle out. SC isn't a premier team but with Spurrier the're always dangerous. Besides that both teams defenses are no where close. Ohio State was allowed to be more aggressive on defense because they knew their offense could score when needed. As for the Ohio State UK debate here some thoughts. If they played most years OSU would win by 10-20 points. This year UK would have a chance, and I actually think their speed and experience at QB would be the deciding factor. UK has gotten the SEC speed that Brooks was talking about when he arrived. They aren't LSU or UF in terms of number of athletes but who knows, in 4 or 5 years MAYBE they could get close. OSU has a great defense, but I believe that it wouldn't make that much of a difference. Even if it is better than LSU's or USC's it certainly wouldn't be faster or more athletic. No matter how big of an OSU HOMER you are the fact of the matter is that they play NO ONE. If Michigan is the best team your going to face this season you had better be playing on Appalacian State. If UK somehow got into a bowl game with OSU they would have a huge advantage because with they exception of EKU, and those 2 other scrubs every other game will have be against a team who could have beat them or should have beat them. If UK played OSU schedule this year they MIGHT lose 1 game just over looking someone. Same for LSU and Florida. Thats just the facts. OSU's defense is good but Not even the "Hart Attack" at the end of the season would compare to the offensive fire power of the Cats or Florida. IF OSU was in the SEC I think they would be a consistant 10-15 team, but only their elite years would they be top 5 like the consistantly are in the BIG 10. And if Illinois keeps recruiting athletes like they have been the Buckeyes fans will see exactly what we are talking about. I'm not bashing Ohio St. I'm speaking the facts. As a UK fan I wish we had half the tradition and prestige that Ohio State has, but unfortunately we don't. Before a Buckeyes fan gets on here and blast this post ask yourself if you HONESTLY think you'd be undefeated playing UK's schedule, or any other team in the SEC. The answer is no...C'mon LSU isn't even undefeated.

The answer is no...C'mon LSU isn't even undefeated. I am not an OSU HOMER. And Ohio States good defense wouldn't make much of a difference?? OK..Also Ohio State didn't play that great of a OOC schedule, but did Kentucky?? other than U of L ,which is their rivalry game, they played EKU, Kent State, and FAU. That's not saying much either. Also the schedules were made a couple of years ago, when Washington was in the middle of a good run. The way you are talking Ohio State has no " athletes " at all. Have you seen #33?? How about Malcolm Jenkins? or Donald Washington?? or Marcus Freeman?? or Mo. and Chris Wells?? How about Robiskie?? I could go on. Sure, they are not the " SEC " speed team but that doesn't mean much. Ohio State has A LOT of speed and A LOT of athlets. OK and about the SEC deal, it will never happen so it doesn't even matter. The Big 10 is and always will be a tough confrence to play in. Always. The SEC will be too. I think Ohio State would have had trouble against Florida, but not LSU. LSU's offense is average at best.
October 23, 200718 yr When did I say that OSU had no athletes? OSU wouldn't have trouble against LSU??? What? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. IF they get to play it will be a good game. OSU wouldn't win by more than 7 If they could even pull out a win. LSU's offense is suspect, but it has come through when needed, albeit with major luck in the UF and Auburn games. As for UK's out of conference if you played USC, LSU, and UF on consecutive weeks would YOU schedule the likes of Southern Cal or Oklahoma? No. With NO easy games in the SEC most of the teams in it only schedule one, maybe two really good out of conference games a year. We play Louisville, who besides this year has been a top 10-15 team the last 4 or 5 years, and when we played them they had one of the best offenses in the country. Washington give me a break. A great year for them is 8 wins. Just who is so tough in the Big 10 anyways. I think Michigan is underrated, but who else. Illionois is talented but a year away from being a major player in the Big 10. Penn State is a joke. Purdue is always crap even though their out of conference usually leaves them with 6 or 7 wins per season. Wisconsin was the most overrated team in history. Indiana is much improved, but still not a heavy weight. Iowa is inconsistant. Simply the Pac-10 is easily better than the Big 10 as is the Big East. Who would have ever have thought that. The Big 12 is probably about even and the ACC is usually better in terms of how many good teams are in it. And comparing the Big 10 to the SEC is a crime. Most teams in the SEC would be atleast a consistant top 3 or 4 team in that conference. Ohio State has a very nice team, but nothing so special that it would shock any of the top teams in the SEC this year. Their D is good, but so is LSU's and S.C's. All I'm saying is that this year there are no Great Teams. A bunch of pretty good ones, but if the best 8 played in a playoff, any of them would have a chance to win the whole thing, and even the 1 seed getting took down by the 8 wouldn't be that big of an upset.
October 23, 200718 yr UK 41 OSU 21 No way does UK score 41 against the Ohio State defense. This game would end up in the 21-17 range. And no "They did it against LSU" arguments, it took them 3 ot's

And no "They did it against LSU" arguments, it took them 3 ot's It seems I heard some awfully familiar comments last year around December- January. I root for the Buckeyes, but their defense wasn't even tested last year until their last two games, and we all know how their defense looked in those games, and it's the same way this year.

October 23, 200718 yr Lets break this down... Quaterbacks.. Todd Boeckman - 1,546 passing yards - 18 TD's. Andre Woodson - 2,201 passing yards - 26 TD's. Better - Kentucky Running Backs.. Chris Wells - 863 yards - 7 TD's. Maurice Wells - 270 yards - 2 TD's. Brandon Saine - 245 yards - 2 TD's. Rafael Little - 683 yards - 3 TD's. Derrick Locke - 351 yards - 3 TD's. Tony Dixon - 387 yards - 3 TD's. Better - Toss up, with Little hurt the backup's have more yards than OSU's. Wide outs.. Brian Robiksie - 728 yards - 7 TD's. Brian Hartline - 360 yards - 4 TD's. Ray Small - 150 yards - 2 TD's. Jake Ballard - 94 yards - 1 TD Keenan Burton - 544 yards - 6 TD's. Dicky Lyons JR - 461 yards - 6 TD's. Steve Johnson - 597 yards - 6 TD's. Jacob Tamme - 304 yards - 4 TD's. Better - Kentucky overal, Robiskie IMO is the best among all of them. Offense.. Ohio State - 31 touchdowns - 415 yards a game ( around 216 passing, close to 200 rushing ) Kentucky - 37 touchdowns - 460 yards a game ( 260 passing, 200 rushing ) Defense.. Ohio State - Gives up under 210 yards a game ( around 63 rushing, around 146 passing ) - Gave up Only 4 TD's. Kentucky - Gives up close to 381 yards a game ( 187 passing, around 195 rushing ) Gave up 18 TD's. Coaching.. Jim Tressel vs Rich Brooks Better - Ohio State Special teams.. Better - Ohio State That's just me though, I am sure a lot of Kentucky fans will all disagree. The big key component that can't be measured when looking at these stats is the level of competition. UK has played no doubt some of the very best teams in the nation, while Ohio St has played NOBODY! I think it would be fair to say that Ohio St has a better defense and I would also say UK has a lot better offense.
October 23, 200718 yr No way does UK score 41 against the Ohio State defense. This game would end up in the 21-17 range. And no "They did it against LSU" arguments, it took them 3 ot's UK had 27 points at the end of regulation. Ohio St does not have the speed or the great D'line that LSU does. I don't believe Ohio St can keep UK under 30 atleast.
October 23, 200718 yr UK had 27 points at the end of regulation. Ohio St does not have the speed or the great D'line that LSU does. I don't believe Ohio St can keep UK under 30 atleast. UK can score points on anybody in college football. The only reason they lost to Florida is the fact that they only stopped them once the entire ballgame and weren't able to gather any turnovers. We hear this same defense of OSU's defense every season...then they have to play a few good teams and start giving up 35+ points.

The Big 10 is not a tough conference this year, it hasn't been the last few years...If I heard right they are rated as the 6th toughest conference this year...And well I dont know about you but I definitely wouldn't consider a conference which is rated 6th to be a tough conference...
