Just heard on ESPN radio that the Reds agree to a deal with Paul La Duca.(sp?)

I'm wondering what exactly is the off-season strategy this year. In my opinion the previous few offseasons have left ALOT to be desired.

He made 6.6 million last season so if this is true I hope he took a pay cut. But with that being said, I like the pick up. He's a tough out, and rarely strikes out. I'd rather have him playing every day than David Ross

I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere. Are you sure you heard this correctly?

Lo Duca would be a good pick up, good hitting catcher and good fielding catcher also. Works well with the pitching staff. Good pick up if it is true.

Can he pitch??

Can he pitch??

In the Home Run Derby he can. ;)

The Reds don't need another "near the end" player like LoDuca. You need a young catcher with high potential. I think you should go after Clint Sammons of the Braves. Sammons is ready for the major leagues. However, he will never get a chance in Atlanta because of Brian McCann.

Also, the Braves have a propensity for trading their future for a quick fix. The Reds have several of those "quick fixes" available for trade. Check out Sammons and see if you agree?

Griffey for Sammons?

We can start a prayer chain!

Griffey for Sammons?

If the Reds could dump Griffey and his contract for Sammons, it would be quite an accomplishment. You Reds fans should rejoice if such a trade were made. Sammons has real potential.

What about Kris Benson that the Orioles just got rid of? Is this the same guy who pitched for the Pirates? Has he suffered injuries to drop his production?

The White Sox are shopping Joe Crede. They feel Josh Fields is ready for the everyday job. Griffey for Crede?
