16th Region/District predictions

Featured Replies

For Elliott, I think if Timmy Knipp has the grades(I have no clue about his grades just saying that you do need good ones to get into alot of the top schools, for all I know he could be a 4.0 with a 36 on his ACT) and continues to improve, he will get a lot of very good scholarship offers to major programs. Read somewhere he's in the top 20 or so in his class, and wasn't he a guest at Big Blue Madness? Ferguson is most likely a Morehead St, Eastern KY, Marshall, or even a Western Kentucky type of player. With the new Morehead coach wanting more area talent, it's possible the Faulkners could get a look from them. Maybe at first as perferred walk ons, but I think they will atleast be recruited by the Eagles. Any others they have that want to play at the next level will definitely need to look for smaller levels such as KCU or Asbury.

Close to how I see it

Good observation. The 64th District appears to be balanced from top to bottom. Rose Hill has more potential than do the others but they are still very young. Fairview is in a similar, though probably a little lesser, situation. Boyd County will be dangerous as long as Selby is around and Zornes won't be outcoached. Ashland is on a bit of a downward spiral talentwise but may have enough to win the district this season if Thomas excels- particularly since the district will be played at Ashland.

Downward spiral but may win the district? That comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If you are saying the Tomcats do not have much young talent coming up then I might suggest you could be surprised. While they might not have anyone coming with the potential of an Euton or a Jackson I think they will continue to show up to play the game. Ashland has an 8th and 9th grade group of athletes that will compete with anyone in the region when their time comes. Unfortunately they havn't had much of an opportunity to play together as part of a school team yet.

Wow!

I am surprised. I was under the impression that your boys have played together in the elementary grades, at Verity in the 7th and 8th grades, and as 9th graders at the high school. In fact, I saw those teams play a couple of games last year. Could it be that I am mistaken and didn't really see what I thought I saw?

Anyway, I did see on multiple occasions, a group of 7th graders from another school beat both Verity's 7th and 8th grade teams back to back on the same evening. Maybe the Verity uniforms were worn by imposters and, if so, I better understand your post.

Elliott has 5 D-1's according to most on here, so he should not have been able to start for them.

I dont think anybody on here said 5 D1 players.

Some of you guys crack me up. If you think one team, alone, in the 16th region has 4 D1 players on it, then you're out of your mind. Go outside of the 16th region and watch some basketball. You will see some D1 talent. People misjudge D1 talent too often. Most of the players we have in our region are NAIA, DII, or DIII type players. I guess if Elliot has 4 kids that our D1 then the rest of us need to throw in the towel.

Those Boys from Elliott wouldnt want you to throw in the towel.

From what I have seen these Kids love to play the game.

Nobody knows anything about there futures. Most of those kids have 2 years left to enjoy High School.

It seems that Elliott has everone worried. So who should Elliott BE worried about?

Well, after thinking about the homegrown talent in this region, I think we can mark Elliott off the list. They didn't recruit or anything, but Maynard grew up in Scott County, and the Knipps are from Carter County. Close but no cigar. Not saying theres anything wrong with it, just that these boys didn't come all the way through the Elliott County system, especially Maynard and the older Knipp.

Raceland, Rose Hill, Ashland, and Fairview

This is rediculous.

Well there we go!! Several agreed this post by Triple C was a pretty good assessment! Every school he mentioned for Knipp, Ferguson, and the Faulkners were D1. I don't know why everyone thinks its so impossible(MAYBE NOT LIKELY BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE) it has happened at other 16th region schools and it has already happened at Elliott in the past

That is a long time ago anything more recent.......

We already have a thread, regarding Multiple Players from one HS, playing D1 and here is the link....http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=132123

If we want to discuss that issue, utilize that thread. This is a 16th Region/District prediction thread and let's get it back on path.

RA09, I enjoy your love:rolleyes: for East but please realize they are no better than 6th and thats giving them love

I could care a less if East Carter wins a game this year, but they will be no worse than 3rd in the region.
