16th Region/District predictions

Featured Replies

I dont know what makes you think that the defending 64th district champs and 16th region runner-up would be on a "downward spiral". While RH who has not made a regional appearance in 4 years would be on the rise. Potential is just that...I'll take proven winners.....

Check out the scores when one school's "potential" actually plays the other school's "potential". Ashland cleaned Rose Hill in the second half of the varsity game last year at Ashland. That is past history. Rose Hill, led by 9th graders and 8th graders, beat Ashland's junior varsity in the preliminary game. We can't compare the two freshman teams because they didn't play anjd we all know why. Rose Hill's 7th grade team beat Ashland's 7th grade team and Ashland's 8th grade team each time the teams played last year. RH's 8th grade team was its 7th grade team.

Ashland's braintrust won't allow any Ashland elementary teams to play RH and that has been their policy for several years. Does anyone really wonder why?

When we look at what is coming, I would say that it is clearly more than "potential", don't you think?

As I said earlier, I look for Ashland to win the 64th District this coming season. I base it on the fact that the tournament will be played at Ashland and that Ashland still has Matt Thomas (Who is still, by the way, a favorite with RH people).

Where is my analysis wrong?

Tomcats drew their way to the finals.

Finals was a second half blowout.

Cubster is, as usual, correct.

I love to hear those who are intimidated by Rose Hill. But I would really like to hear more about Selby. Is he not playing this year?

If Selby doesn't play, it will remove Boyd County from serious contention in the district.

Why wouldn't Selby play?

Why wouldn't Selby play?

Some rumors have been floating around that he's not overly enthused about the new coach, however, I have no way of substantiating that. I'd be willing to bet he's in uniform when the Lions hit the floor. I, for one, am looking forward to watching him play!

I didn't know that Fastbreak weighed 188?:D

Not since my sophomore or junior year of high school...

I have body parts that weigh that now...

...and not the ones I wish did...

Like I said, I can only hope our regular season games are as spirited as this forum has been... :thumb:

Once your "potential" does something of consequence in KY high school hoops, let me know. Until then I will side with the schools, players, and coaches who have actually accomplished something. 7th and 8th grade games as well as JV games may give you something to look forward to, but as we all know, the foundation can quickly crumble........

You can think whatever you like. They still to win as many games as anyone else to reach the finals, and they did just that.

Ashland, I know, is not happy with just making it to the finals GG.

Looks like we're still off the "PATH"

IMO, Elliot County is a head above everyone else, but there are still some good teams in the 16th Region. Elliot County can be beat, but it is going to take a pretty good night from someone to beat them.

I also think Boyd and Ashland will be better than everyone is giving them credit for. Supposedly Rose Hill,East, Raceland and Fairview are going to be legit as well, so it will be an interesting year.

I also believe this Rose Hill/Ashland/Boyd County/whoever else has really gotten out of hand anyway. We have let the whole scheme of things bloom out of range.

I would first like to say that there are some great parents and great kids at Rose Hill and we all agree that Rose Hill got beat up on for years, but that was their choice to play sports. I just wish they could have built a program by taking "Their" homegrown boys and making something out of them, not taking "everyone elses" homegrown boys. I much more enjoyed back in the day with Holbrook and the boys there knocking off some teams more than I do seeing transfers coming in and stealing the spotlight from kids that have worked their way up thru the Rose Hill school system. Once again that is not a bash towards the people there at Rose Hill, just my opinion.

I also believe Rose Hill is a fad and bandwagon anyway...The other schools will alway be there. "Dont call it a comeback - its been here for years".
