16th Region/District predictions

Featured Replies

How about this...RH (Euton and Jackson) don't have experience winning big games (District games) with their RH teammates, whereas Elliott Co. and even Ashland for that matter does. Its easy to win AAU games when your roster is loaded with other players of the same caliber.

Somehow, I would have to believe playing in national tournaments against the best from all parts of the country is a "bit" bigger than playing in the 64th District.

As for the caliber of players involved in AAU, while your team is loaded with talented players, so is the opposition. Otherwise, they wouldn't be there. The 64th District of the last few years is less than mediocre at best and, when compared to the top AAU teams, extremely poor.

Remember, no 64th District team has even won the region since Rose Hill did so in 2003 and the odds are strongly against it this coming season.

But, since I am no fan of Ashland, I hope their "leaders" continue to believe that they don't need AAU exposure. I applaud their stance.

Well this thread is about the 16th region and that includes the 64th district. As much as you RHer's would like for AAU games to count as district and region games they don't. So bringing up AAU this and AAU that is basically meaningless. And what does it say about your team when they play against elite competition in AAU games all summer, and then can't win a game in the district tourney. Obviously all those AAU games havent helped enough. Am I wrong?? Obviously, Ashland doesn't need to have a major investment in AAU to field a better team than RH year after year.....

I am not gong to say Rose Hill is more talented than anyone else in the region. I will say that the experience these young men have gotten in the past few years wil do nothing but help them. Remember they are still a young team. Even though there is nothing I would like more than to see them win the region this year, it may not be the year. But they will be contenders in the future.

Yeah, AAU hasn't helped Elliott either. I think they should go another direction.

Well its very possible that Elliott Co.'s involvement in AAU somewhat differs from the reason RH is so heavily involved in AAU, right? It's also possible that Elliott's success has nothing to do with AAU at all, and is simply the result that they have great players. Players and a team that are far superior to those at RH....

Gopher my friend, I hate to rain on your parade, but I've seen Ashland's "pipeline" and it doesn't look so bright. And rest assured that I don't mean this personally whatsoever. Whether it's against Rose Hill, Fairview, or Boyd, I seriously hope your Cats aren't sitting back anticipating the beasts that are waiting in the wings for 16th region dominance. I think we can all safely assume that the "pack" has not only caught, but passed Ashland on the hardwood. I was in attendance at Rose Hill watching the Ashland games last season 7th and 8th and it was a spanking slanted in the Royals favor. I watched the mighty Hagar team I'd heard so much about in the 6th grade with an enormous winning streak get beat very handily by the Boyd 6th grade team. With regards to the here and now, I don't think that Ashland can beat Elliott nor Rose Hill nor my Eagles this season FWIW.

Well put. My friend.:sssh:

So, your comments aren't very well veiled, they have nothing to do with Ashland as much as it has to do with being anti-RH. Although this is nothing new, and you are welcome to your opinion as are the rest of us, I suppose that we'll know Jan. 15th when the Tomcats visit the Stew. Good luck to the Cats this season.

Thats fine. You are completely entitled to that opinion.

I heard from a very reliable source that there will be no "Selby" on the bball floor this year......anyone else heard this???

Okay, I don't think it's any secret you and I know one another away from this silly computer, so where did you hear this from? I can't imagine that unless he was injured, which I haven't heard, and I live closer to their gym than you do!

I don't mean for my comments to be "veiled". I'm just simply stating my opinion, along with some facts here and there. Whether they are "anti-RH" as you say, thats fine. I don't have to like everyone, or the way they do things. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all if people say those opinions are "anti- anything. My stance is typically pro Golden Gopher, and if pro GG also means pro Ashland, then so be it. I don't expect anyone else to apologize for their loyalties, as I don't expect to have to apologize for mine.

Don't recall asking for an apology. I do remember stating that you have your opinion like everyone else. And then I think I wished your Tomcats good luck.

:cool:Easy guys it is only a computer and anything goes. Cool it ! !
