Everyone was saying Greenup and Russell would be down as well this year.

Greenup is getting past the "old coaches issues" and they will be a vastly improved program. You will now begin to see real baskletball at Greenup.

That will be nice to see, Good Luck !:thumb:

It will come down to Elliott or Rose Hill. It definitely will be an interesting year.

You could make argument that Elliott has a chance to return to the championship game. But to say that Rosehill is going to be there I don't know. It just seems to me a team that has never made it out of the district could not be favored over a team like East Carter or Raceland who return most or all of their firepower and was a superior team last season.

Exactly! I will always take experience over potential any day....

I would think it would depend upon the quality of your experience and the quality of your potential. Elliott County has a measure of both. While they are not likely to be a threat for the state championship, they must be considered the odds on favorite in the region.

Elliott wins the Region again ! Yes! If all stay healthy. :thumb:

High school basketball isn't the only game in town. To say the likes of Eauton and Jackson who have played all over the country and have won championships don't have experience is close minded. And by the way Rose Hill has made it out of the district and won the region.

I would venture to say that Euton and Jackson have played in far more "big" games than anyone else in the 64th District. Of course, the EC boys have played in many such games. I think those who play AAU at a high level progress far more from that experience than they do from playing high school ball.

As for Ashland, I believe the consolidation of Coles and Putnam into first Coles-Putnam and then into Verity has really hurt the program. Also, I have always heard that Ashland is not particularly "AAU friendly" and that has hurt.

How about this...RH (Euton and Jackson) don't have experience winning big games (District games) with their RH teammates, whereas Elliott Co. and even Ashland for that matter does. Its easy to win AAU games when your roster is loaded with other players of the same caliber.

High School ball and AAU ball are two different things.

Yes, THANK GOD! :thumb:

Would it be ok to say that RH will not be a door mat this year. I know some will never acknowledge the talent of Rose Hill. But I do believe that Rose Hill has some tough match ups for teams in the 16th. They are taller than most, faster than some, and they have about four three year starters, and four more who have seen a lot of time over the past three years. I can't argue with you. This group of kids have never won a district tournament game, but how can anyone deny that they can win.

I'd watch out for Ashland very early on this season, they will get their football players out immediately unlike most years. Ashland should win the district considering they'll be the hosts as has been stated previously, so we'll see how they play with the bullseye on their back. But with that kind of tradition, they're used to that, right?
