October 1, 200718 yr Author I love this one-game scenario rather than a tiebreaker. Agreed. It's a huge advantage to the team that starts playing well at the end of the year and is able to catch someone. They play the do-or-die games for weeks leading up to the playoffs...LOVE IT!!!

Yes the Reds could have clinched in Milwaukee on the final weekend, but lost the first two games of that series. The Reds actually had to win the last game of the series to set up the one game playoff. The Reds had to wait out like a 4-5 rain delay, and then Pete Harnish came up big to win the game. Unfortunately the Reds went with Steve Parris and the Mets went with Reds killer Al Leiter. I think most Reds fans knew the game was doomed from the start.
