Great win for the BIRDS. Beat a team with a ton of talent tonight. Defense played with great passion. Bent but did not break in the end. Some of the younder guys really stepped up tonight and impressed, especially 22 and 19 bigtime. Offense was spectacular at times and nice call on the TD pass. Was there earlier to 22 and we underthrew it. OL created huge holes and the backs just blew through them. IMO the TO's kept TW in the game and a lesser team may have folded but the BIRDS held though and rose to the occasion. TW has a very good team and can go far in DII if they improve on defense. Studs o offense were impressive.

 

BIRDS keep the focus going to the altimate goal in Dec and you will be rewarded.

That was fun. It felt much better walking out of an Ohio venue with a 'W'. If the offense could've held on to the ball one of those three series they fumbled in the first half and put up another TD, IMO it would've been over. The Birds came out fast. I only recall TM 'stopping' HHS once in the first half...

Yeah that was a nice place to play. I hope to see more games be played at UC than Paul Brown. Great game by the Birds. Congrats to the players and the coaching staff. :thumb:

This great win reminds me in so many ways of another very high profile HHS win of the past.

 

Neutral site, come from behind, one enormous pass play TD, an exceptionally talented and athletic opponent, big goal line stand; coaching, conditioning & desire seal it for the Birds.

I know that Highlands is a GREAT program, but Trotwood has to have some of the worst coaches in the entire country. Don't they have like 10+ D1 signees? Maybe someone who was at the game can explain this....

 

 

It had nothing to do with the coaches. Highlands just came into this game with so much heart. They left everything they had out there on the field. They had to in order to beat this monster of a team. Size-wise, it looked like a high school team(highlands) going up against a Division 1 College program(Trotwood). As said before this game, Trotwood is HUGE! I think they will still be good and do well this year, Highlands just flat out played sound football and got the plays they needed to in order to win. There were turnovers on both sides of the football and it just worked out in HHS's favor to work better for them. But I tell you what, I was more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when the birds gave them the ball back with a minute to play.

 

Good game, probably one of the best games that I have ever seen. It was all of the hype and then some. Thank you to the players, coaches, and fans for making this a most memorable experience.

I agree with all the platitudes given to the aforementioned atheletes...but one that goes very under mentioned goes out to the job BRADY DOWLING did snapping the shotgun all night under heavy duress. OUTSTANDING job done by ALL the "HOGS". Couldn't be more proud of the 'Birds than I am right now. Outside of a state final, has there ever been a bigger victory? And I really liked the way the Bird's joined in with Trotwood after the game for what I guess was an FCA prayer. Two hard-hitting, classy ball teams!

Thats something that no one really mentioned enough. There weren't that many penalties and there was not even one scuffle or shove by one team toward another. The amount of goodwill and sportsmanship exuded in this game by both teams was proof of the Class-Act Programs that both coaches run. Thats what is most important to teach our young athletes that they can take throughout the rest of their lives. Thanks Coaches!!!:banana:

I'd be interested in hearing the Ru's analysis/comparison also. Then again, there's a lot of games and a lot of good teams that we'll have to beat before that matchup happens.

I don't have the Guru's expertise, and I too would like to hear his take on it. But, having seen both teams myself, I'd say a possible match-up between these two would be an epic battle. I'm leaning (with as much objectivity as I can muster) toward the Birds. BG has a mean power game; but I think HHS has the edge in quantity and diversity of weapons.

After a night to sleep on it, the thing that sticks out in my head is that the HHS kicker was AWESOME.

 

TM starting on the 20 everytime, and on the flip side it seemed that HHS was starting on the 40 or 50 most everytime. Thats a whole lot shorter field. TM had to drive the length of the field 2 times and scored on both.

 

Personally I thought that Both Offenses moved the ball very easily. HHS missed some opportunities with fumbles. TM also left 14 points on the board as well. Goal Line and right before half fumble inside the 20. Neither Defense had an answer for the others Offense. TM was a little star struck early on in the game due to being in the herbie and at UC it seemed.
