Beechwood needs some work, as well as FINALLY fixing those lights on the far side of the field. It never fails, usually at least one time a year all the lights on the West side of the field would go out in a game.

The absolutely, positively worst lighting in this hemisphere has to be Webster County.

I think they're old tennis court lights or something. My back yard is better lit than Webster's field.

I've actually heard receivers say they lost the ball in the darkness.

I think if everyone pulled their cars up around the field and left their headlights on it would be an improvement.

It's only a matter of time until the Manual people jump in here for the disrespect shown towards their venerable (very old) playing facility.

Does Cov Cath have lights now?

Franklin County has some of the worse lights in the state, too low, too old, and unreliable there has many delays on games at FCHS due to the lights shutting off.

As bad as Manual's are, Montgomery Bell gets my vote.

   Checked on the powder last night. My wife said she needed a box moved in the garage. She couldn't pick it up. It turns out it's the gunpowder box.:sssh:

This sounds like something you read about on internet emails for some Yearly awards( I forget the name) The house blew up when someone threw a match in the garage and BOOM!! Seriously, be careful. There are many Cov Catholic and Boone County fans on here!!

Sorry for the detour-now back to the thread!!

Hey, the cannon in your avatar looks a little run-down.
So did the real one, upon close inspection last year. ;)

Still sounds the same though. :creepy:

It's been thrown around for a while on here. I don't see it as disrespecting the stadium when commenting about the lights... it was after someone dissed all the work that the players themselves had put in on some renovations that ticked me off. Compared to 10 years ago, today's Manual Stadium is a gem.

I honestly never knew or felt there was a problem with the lights until I got on BGP. Since then I tried paying more attention at the games, and I would love for them to upgrade (should've been done in the past year but someone above mentioned the money went towards a gym roof??? interesting).

Hey, the cannon in your avatar looks a little run-down. Does the Commander in Chief know it looks like that.:fire:

Hey shut up. I'll have another Honey Do before the first game thanks to you. If it looks bad to you, take some more cannon oil to the game and you'll not notice what it looks like.:thumb:

I don't know about the roof story??? I have not heard that. I just heard we are on a rotation schedule and it is not our turn yet. I will post more if I find out.

The lighting is getting bad. It was not that terrible as people said it was a few years ago, but it is getting there fast now. The stadium itself is 84 years old, so I am not saying that it is as nice as a brand new one, it can't be; but it is historic and still a great place to watch a game (granted that we need new lights).

And if JCPS is trying to force the boosters to pay for new lighting that is bogus. That money is for the program. The school board bought lights for every other field they can buy our lights too. Lord knows our field has seen twice the use as most JCPS fields.

Bath County moved into their new facility last year and I must say, one thing they didn't skimp on was their lighting. I'd put that lighting system up against any around. I've bee too some Div I stadiums that don't compare.

Admit it, All Tell your just scared of the dark...:D

I was on the coaching staff at Manual in 99 & 2000 and I can tell you the old place was pretty run down. My dad was the head coach in the late 60's and early 70's and I think that date corresponded with the last time the press box was cleaned.:creepy:

The group of mostly parents worked very hard to do the much needed repairs (mostly painting) that they could do. Also 1999 was the first year they put the Bermuda grass in.

So yes, the stadium is in MUCH better shape that it was 10 years ago. I still miss the old scoreboard though, guess Sam Erny just hit it too many times in warm-ups.
