August 29, 200719 yr They can have as many off days as they want unless they win the last 5 on this trip. You don't need a day off when fighting for your lives. It's different if they were in the lead by 6.5 w/o 3 teams in front of them. Which are more important, the 18 games against the Brewers, Cards and Cubs or these 4 against the Pirates?
August 29, 200719 yr Which are more important, the 18 games against the Brewers, Cards and Cubs or these 4 against the Pirates? At this point they are all important.
August 29, 200719 yr Dude, he walks a TON!!! And strikes out a rate that reminds everyone of David Kingman.
August 29, 200719 yr Which are more important, the 18 games against the Brewers, Cards and Cubs or these 4 against the Pirates? I'm no math major, but if they're 10 games behind Chicago going into Friday they can play anyone they want in those 18 games and it doesn't matter. If you get beat w/ your best players playing against Chicago b/c they're tired at least those games mattered. While it's easy to see that you need to beat the teams in front of you to get back you can't lose 1 1/2 games last night b/c your guys might get tired in a couple of weeks. Right now it looks like those games won't mean a thing.

Right now it looks like those games won't mean a thing. Which means they don't deserve to win the division anyway. You guys would be complaining if these guys took an off day against one of the three teams in front of them too. Mackanin's in a danged if you do, danged if you don't scenario. Kind of like Narron being the patsy...
August 29, 200719 yr And strikes out a rate that reminds everyone of David Kingman. How many years did Kingman have 90+ RBI, 40+ HR, 100+ BB, 100+ Runs? B/c Dunn is on his way to his third such season, out of 6.

I can't believe that Dunn, Griffey, or Hamilton needed or wanted to sit those games or any of the ones coming up if they are in the race. Hopper for Hamilton or Griffey once is fine. 2 of those 3 had to be in the lineup both games yesterday.
August 29, 200719 yr And strikes out a rate that reminds everyone of David Kingman. Dude, the only person that he reminds of Dave Kingman is the guy that doesn't watch every game, doesn't closely follow the team, but listens to talk radio and catches the conversation of other guys at the water cooler. For the 1,000,000th time, go to Baseball Reference.com and see who he most similarly compares to. Reggie Jackson. Darryl Strawberry. Jose Canseco. No Kingman in sight. By the way, Ryan Howard leads the NL in strikeouts with about 50 fewer AB's than Dunn -- should Philly dump him too? Ridiculous argument. Again.
August 29, 200719 yr Narron was not a patsy, he was an awful manager. But the team ERA was lower with him... The players didn't play for him, that's a joke out of professionals...
