August 29, 200719 yr Hamilton cf Gonzalez ss Griffey rf Phillips 2b Dunn lf Valentin c Hatteberg 1b Encarnacion 3b Harang p Championship lineup right there...
August 29, 200719 yr He is hitting .400 in his last 10 games. And has a 6 game hit streak. He's being productive, let E-5 be and hopefully it will continue.
August 29, 200719 yr He is hitting .400 in his last 10 games. And has a 6 game hit streak. And he's only been above the 6 spot once. Is there a rule against a solid hitter in the 8 spot???
August 29, 200719 yr Hard to be productive from that spot in the lineup. 3-8 with 3 RBI and 3 R in his last two games as the 8th hitter...
August 29, 200719 yr 3-8 with 3 RBI and 3 R in his last two games as the 8th hitter... Are you really going to try to argue that we would get less chances in the 8th spot than the 5th or 6.
August 29, 200719 yr Hard to be productive from that spot in the lineup. Not at all, think about how many times the #8 hole gets to hit with the #4-#7 spots, on base or having already set the table. #8 hole, gets at least 3 AB's and sometimes, 4....plenty and a 1-3 or 2-4 night, is outstanding.
August 29, 200719 yr The question is, who would you move down in the lineup? Easy Valentin and I wouldn't have Gonzalez in the 2 hole. He just has him there to split up the lefties.
August 29, 200719 yr Easy Valentin and I wouldn't have Gonzalez in the 2 hole. He just has him there to split up the lefties. I'm not sure it's that easy. I mean, if Valentin gets on and the pitcher bunts him over, you still need two hits to score him. E-5 at least scores on that hit. Not saying that's his thinking but it certainly is not 'easy'...
