Track the Reds: 2nd Half

Dude, the only person that he reminds of Dave Kingman is the guy that doesn't watch every game, doesn't closely follow the team, but listens to talk radio and catches the conversation of other guys at the water cooler.

For the 1,000,000th time, go to Baseball Reference.com and see who he most similarly compares to. Reggie Jackson. Darryl Strawberry. Jose Canseco. No Kingman in sight.

By the way, Ryan Howard leads the NL in strikeouts with about 50 fewer AB's than Dunn -- should Philly dump him too?

Ridiculous argument. Again.

NO HE DINIT!!!

Speaking of listening to talk radio. Here's a gem from Lance...

Please explain

I'm always curious when I hear terms thrown around like..."bandwagon" or "flip flop". Those terms have been used this week to describe Reds fans....even to describe me. What I don't get it this...I sounds like in order to NOT be a bandwagon jumper or flip flopper you would have to react/view all of these with the same emotions:

31-51, worst record in baseball

Swept at Washington

6-game win streak

Best record in division since July 3

Swept in Pittsburgh

Why would anyone expect a Reds fan to stay even keel over all of that? You'd want a fan to be ok with a 31-51 record? And you would want them calm when the Reds pulled to within 6.5 games?

If you view and feel the same about all of those, you are not a fan. You are without emotiion. And I will would feel bad that you are missing out on what it means to love sports. What a ride.

You forgot part of it, GT...You're welcome...

Still boggels my mind how loved he is around here.

And then he follows it with this...

Mackanin gets all the beat writers on board....gets campaign stories in all papers....and then, in his biggest series as an interim manger:

He pulls out "the book" for the first time...and manages like he feels the pressure.

Gets swept

Watches as Jr dogs it on a fly ball

Result: He lost the benefit of the doubt from the fans. Last night will be remembered as his "moment"....much like Narron being remembered for pinch hitting Castro for Hamilton.

And......makes it much easier for Bob Castellini to feel comfortable pursuing LaRussa, Girardi and then Brenly.

You forgot part of it, GT...You're welcome...

OK if you want to crucify him for that if they would have won does he get some ridiculous praise. I don't think so. It wasn't a bad move get over it.

I will say this, both Dunn and Junior had really bad days yesterday. Is it a coincidence that it was also the first game they had played since they were "back in the hunt"? Maybe. Both have had reputations of not being "money" players when the chips were on the table, and as much as I'm a fan of Dunn, yesterday did nothing to help either of them in that defense.

Again, it could have just been a coincidence, but then again, maybe not.

^^I don't think that has anything to do it with. The lizard goes out and gives up 6 runs in 5 innings. tough to recover from that.

Believe me, no one wants that to be true more than me. However, I don't want to be thought of as a blind homer either, so I have to call a spade a spade when it presents itself.

The lineup that didn't include Ellison and his .067 avg had been scoring 7.67 runs per during the 6 game winning streak.

I've come to a conclusion. This town doesn't deserve a winning franchise. Next...

Dunner had a chance to win that game for us but he didn't. So now what. :D If you think they can maintain that average your crazy.

Amen. :thumb:

Although it has been so long I can promise we won't know how to act. To think, I can remember fondly the '75 and '76 Reds, the Bengals of the 80's (mostly very good), 1990, etc. It seems like a lifetime ago, and if you are just starting to drive, it was. :p
