Track the Reds: 2nd Half

Featured Replies

They were somewhat in the race going into yesterday. Now they're 8 back w/ a chance to fall behind Pitt today. I'd say they were big games. I'm aware that w/o the 6 game winning streak none of this matters. And I agree that they should have played Monday. But to sit your #5 hitter who gets paid the big bucks on a day where to stay afloat you have to win at least 1, but almost must have 2 is crazy. They didn't have any margin for error. Ellison, are you kidding me? He's hitting .067. If you want Hopper in there then play him, but Dunn has to play.
I'm not sure how anyone could argue with the logic.

So you can guarantee that it would be different if he kept the left handed lineup out there for two games? Come on...

didn't say that, but you have to play your best 9.

I'm not sure how anyone could argue with the logic.

They're going to have to sit at some point. Every game is the biggest game of the year. With 18 games remaining against the people you are chasing, your best chance to give these guys rest is against the worst team you play. That's the Pirates. If guys like Ellison can't help you beat the Bucs, you're not going to beat the Cards, Brewers or Cubs...

They all sat on Monday.

If you fall too far behind it doesn't matter. Now they have to win more like 14 or 15 out of 18 instead of 12-13.

Ellison can't help them beat anyone unless he's in the game to play defense when they're already ahead and the ball is hit in his direction.

They were off THE DAY BEFORE!
They were off THE DAY BEFORE!

Exactly! How much time off do they need?

And they played the next day...

Hamilton is the ONLY player anyone can complain that didn't play, IMO. Griffey and Dunn played a game the day after an off day...

Good to see Dunn getting so much interest, in playing.

Could it have to do with whether or not the team picks up his option for next year at 13 million? Somebody do the math and figure out how much he would make per strike out.

Maybe in the off season he can go back to his workout routine of fishing and drinking beer and come back next year closer to 300 pounds.

Sorry to be so sarcastic, but a professional athlete should at least be in shape and maybe get an eye exam.

Dude, he walks a TON!!!

And scores a lot of runs!

They can have as many off days as they want unless they win the last 5 on this trip. You don't need a day off when fighting for your lives. It's different if they were in the lead by 6.5 w/o 3 teams in front of them.

I'm still trying to figure out if:

You're joking around

You really believe that Dunn needed to sit 1 of the 2 games

You're arguing just to have something to argue about.

:D

Dude, he walks a TON!!!

Not while Ellison plays for him.
