The only real change in game 1 is Dunn. Hopper, Kepp, Junior and Javy all left too many guys on base. It's on the players to get it done and they didn't. Quite taking the whiney way out...

My guess is because they play 30 games in the next 33 days to end the season and they're going to eventually have to sit. Regardless of what they do this series or road trip, they'll need those guys to go strong the next almost 5 weeks. I'd rather they sit now, on a day like yesterday than sit in two weeks if they're within a game or two. Either way, they'll have to sit sometime...

They were somewhat in the race going into yesterday. Now they're 8 back w/ a chance to fall behind Pitt today. I'd say they were big games. I'm aware that w/o the 6 game winning streak none of this matters. And I agree that they should have played Monday. But to sit your #5 hitter who gets paid the big bucks on a day where to stay afloat you have to win at least 1, but almost must have 2 is crazy. They didn't have any margin for error. Ellison, are you kidding me? He's hitting .067. If you want Hopper in there then play him, but Dunn has to play.

Yes, going into yesterday they put themselves in a position where they could have had big games for the rest of the year. Which is another reason your best or second best run producer has to play. You had to figure EZ wasn't throwing a bunch of 0's at them.
