August 29, 200719 yr How can Lance say that Pete Mackanin played yesterday's games 'by the book' yet in the same breathe complain he didn't play his best players? If that's not going off of 'feel' I don't know what is...
August 29, 200719 yr Dunner had a chance to win that game for us but he didn't. So now what. If you think they can maintain that average your crazy. How many games out of how many did the total go over? Maintaining that pace may not happen, but if your player who produces the most runs sits and Ellison is in his spot you're less likely to score runs.
August 29, 200719 yr Amen. :thumb: Although it has been so long I can promise we won't know how to act. To think, I can remember fondly the '75 and '76 Reds, the Bengals of the 80's (mostly very good), 1990, etc. It seems like a lifetime ago, and if you are just starting to drive, it was. So you're ok w/ your #5 hitter who has been driving in runs like crazy sitting in a must win game the day after an off day for a guy w/ an .067 avg?

If you want to think like that I guess we better throw Harang out there every game.

August 29, 200719 yr Ok, for those justifying the move. Why not sit Dunn the first game. Griff the second. And Hamilton today? Why does Hamilton sit both? If Griff only plays the afternoon game. He has a day and half to recoup. This way all three get to sit a game. It would avoid all of this.

August 29, 200719 yr So you're ok w/ your #5 hitter who has been driving in runs like crazy sitting in a must win game the day after an off day for a guy w/ an .067 avg? I predicted before the games that Dunn and Griffey would each get a game off. Am I okay with it? Not necessarily. Was it easy to see coming with two hooks on the hill? Yes. There is NO WAY, even against two righties, that Griffey was playing both of those. I think if it had been a hook and a righty, or two righties, you would have seen Dunn play both games. You know me Bro, I want Dunner out there every day. :D

August 29, 200719 yr Hamilton is going to sit against all lefties, like it or not. A) Hopper has been playing well so it is an excuse to get him in there; B) Hamilton's body has proven to be fragile (understandably so given the abuse it has taken) so I don't think anyone thinks of him as an "everyday" player right now. Just my hunch....
August 29, 200719 yr So playing Hobbs over Ellison produces a win???It certainly gives you a better chance at it.
