Track the Reds: 2nd Half

Featured Replies

Any takers on Brett Tomko? He was DFA to make room for D. Wells!!!

Seriously though, Belisle was impressive this weekend. Arroyo has won back-to-back starts and Harang is at the top of his game. Things are clicking right now, still a long shot but it's fun to watch again isn't it!

See the post above yours...:irked:

Pete Mack has done a good job since becoming the Reds manager, Reds are at 6-0 after sweeping the Marlins.

Agree. Wonder how the Reds would be if Narron had been fired earlier in the season. Some of the differences in personel have to be taken into consideration. I had front row diamonds right by the Reds on deck circle, it was a great vantage point to witness the team in the dugout and on the field. Witnessing the effort closeup has given me a deeper appreciation for the team and their talent. Griffey looks great. You should have heard the crack of the bat of EEs shot. BP was about 10 feet int the air to snag that liner. Jorgensen kidded around with us while on deck then hits a slam. Adam Dunn ran the hardest I have ever seen yesterday trying to beat out a grounder. The guy actually has decent wheels for his size. Is that a by-product of a new manager? I's have to say so. So I guess the question is, is Mack the answer? Part of me says yes and then I go back to our recent interim guys that had some success only to falter badly after the interim tag was removed. But I guess he has earned a shot. I really don't think they can leap frog 3 teams, but at least its more fun to watch.

I was just looking at the total number of posts in the "Track the Reds 2nd Half" thread and thought of an idea that may have already been suggested:

Why not have a seperate category for Reds baseball?

"Track the Reds 1st Half" has 6,768 posts and 32,574 views

"Track the Reds 2nd Half" has 2,192 posts and 12,506 views SO FAR

those posts added together (8960 posts) are more than 13 other categories including Auto Racing, The Great Outdoors, and College Recruiting. Also that is more posts than Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Tennis, Track, and Cross Country combined!

Just a suggestion

Okay, allow me to throw out a (admittedly unlikely) possible scenario: the Reds end the season against the Cubs for 3 games at GABP, imagine if they enter that series at about a game back, for instance. You'd have the building coming off it's hinges on Friday, Saturday and (hopefully) Sunday. Then, you'd get Patriots / Bengals at Paul Brown on Monday night, the next day. That 4 day stretch could be so much fun even HB20 would want to be hanging around Cincinnati.

Again, admittedly, it is highly unlikely, but man it would take this town back to the time when the Reds AND Bengals were rocking (about 1979 :D ).

Only this time I'll be older than 6 months...:p :p

Hey guys lets not all get interested in the Reds again. The Reds did terrible when we were all interested in them, and have been playing their best baseball since we started to ignore them and not talk about them on here. So lets all get back to ignoring them...:D

I've been interested and following them all year. Maybe you should go back to staying out of this thread. :D :D

I hate to say it but the best thing the Reds can do in this series with Pittsburgh is get swept. I'm sorry but the REds do this every year. They cant seem to win when it counts. They get us all teased up here in August/September only to finish with a somewhat respectable record. I applaude their newfound success and love the way they are mashing it but there is no way this team can go 22-10 over the last 32 after winning 6 in a row. This is great for ownership, interest in the Reds through september, keeps sales up and concessions rolling. But the end is inevitable. Hate to spoil your Reds interest but a reality check is in order here.

I was looking for the :D to say you were kidding about getting swept. It seems to me that the best they can do is sweep the Pirates.

I don't look for the reds to get swept.

Newcomer to thread?:D j/k As far as ticket sales and concessions rolling, there wasn't much of a crowd yesterday. They've lost the fans.

I usually don't post about the Reds, but I just saw that they're only 6.5 games out of 1st in the Central.

Do they have a chance to take the Central? What say you?

I'd say at this point, the top five teams in the division have a chance. I won't be able to stomach it if the worst Cardinal team in 12 years somehow wins the division. Next year, three teams will win 85 games and two will stay home. 85 wins this year would be a 7 game lead at the end.

It would take a minor miracle with the makeup of the starting rotation, but in this awful division anything is possible...

It's better that way...

The one thing they have going for them is that the Cubs are in first and they'll be true to form and lay an egg by the end of the season. It's a longshot and anything's possible...

I was just amazed that they were in single digits. I will limit my Reds posting to once a month from now on
