August 27, 200719 yr I agree in that it has been inconsistent at best this year, but I also believe they do have some potential in Belisle, Livingston, Bailey and EZ (maybe as a middle relief guy). At least more potential than I have felt they had in aloooooooooooonbg time. Put Belisle in the pin and substiute Cueto in the rotation if we are talking potential, Cueto could be a #3 (Behind Harang and Bailey) and Belise is a number 5 at best. With that said I cant wait for all of our young guns to be in the bigs together, which will most likely be 08 when Cueto is called up and Livingston is back healthy.

There should be more known about the extent of the labrum tear by the end of the week. If it's as bad as it sounds I don't expect him to contribute until 09 at best...

I haven't seen Cueto enough to get a feel as to his potential. As for the others, I just feel like I can finally see the club slowly improving in the one area they have been sorely lacking in the last decade plus...pitching. You get enough good young arms and see who develops...it takes time, but most fans are impatient and want to see change now. That's why leatherpants made trades all the time, giving up the young arms for the latest, greatest 5-tool player making sure the public knew he was making changes to try and improve the club. All he did was decimate the farm system for years and put the Reds in a hole they are just now beginning to see the way out of. Just hope they sort of hold course in that regard and don't revert to the old ways...:thumb:

I hope it's good news but there isn't a lot of positive from guys that were throwing one day and couldn't lift the pitching arm the next at this level. Maybe I'd feel better if he was 22 and not about to turn 25... :lol:
August 27, 200719 yr If the D-Backs can hold on in their game right now, the Reds will be 6 and a half games out of first in the NL Central Unbelievable - A combination of the Reds playing great baseball since Narron got the boot and some good farm team talent came up and probably most of all is that the NL Central Sucks.

August 27, 200719 yr I love the way they are going but they can't keep hitting this well all year. They are winning a lot of high scoring games. It will all even out by the end i'm sure. I hope it happens but I just don't see it.
August 27, 200719 yr Okay, allow me to throw out a (admittedly unlikely) possible scenario: the Reds end the season against the Cubs for 3 games at GABP, imagine if they enter that series at about a game back, for instance. You'd have the building coming off it's hinges on Friday, Saturday and (hopefully) Sunday. Then, you'd get Patriots / Bengals at Paul Brown on Monday night, the next day. That 4 day stretch could be so much fun even HB20 would want to be hanging around Cincinnati. Again, admittedly, it is highly unlikely, but man it would take this town back to the time when the Reds AND Bengals were rocking (about 1979 ).

August 27, 200719 yr Any takers on Brett Tomko? He was DFA to make room for D. Wells!!! Seriously though, Belisle was impressive this weekend. Arroyo has won back-to-back starts and Harang is at the top of his game. Things are clicking right now, still a long shot but it's fun to watch again isn't it!
