August 26, 200719 yr If the D-Backs can hold on in their game right now, the Reds will be 6 and a half games out of first in the NL Central I just dont see the Cubs losing 7(63 loses) more games than we do to end the year. With that and The Brewers having to lose 5(65 loses) more games than use and the Cardinals 6(64 loses) more games than use the rest of the year, I just don't see it happening, not saying you do, Im just saying in general. I would love to see it happen.
August 26, 200719 yr I just dont see the Cubs losing 7 more games than we do to end the year (If they lose today). With that and The Brewers having to lose 5 more games than use and the Cardinals 3 or 4 more games than use the rest of the year, I just don't see it happening, not saying you do, Im just saying in general. I would love to see it happen. The Cubs lose, and the deficit is down to 6.5 games. It's still a long shot, but the Reds still have several games left with the Brewers/Cards/ and Cubs. The Reds go to Pittsburgh for 4, while the Cubs and Brewers square off for a 3 game series.

August 27, 200719 yr It is a long shot for this year, but they could do it the way they are playing. If they DO, and I think they don't because of big of odds, and Pete Mackanin does not get the job back, Krivskey should be fired. Harang Arroyo Livingston Belisle Bailey Hopper/Hamilton CF Griffey RF Dunn/Freel LF Votto/Cantu 1st Phillips 2nd Keppinger/Pedro Lopez short Encarnacion 3rd Ross/Valentine catcher Weathers Burton Bray Majewski Coutlangus Sarloos E. Ramirez Some of those players might be traded for some better pitchers, and with Bruce coming up, that roster might not, but maybe, be a contender next year, but definately the year after.
August 27, 200719 yr Stranger things have happened, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'm rooting for them with all I got though.:thumb: :thumb:
August 27, 200719 yr Speaking of comebacks, what is the largest come back for the last month of the season?

August 27, 200719 yr Weren't the Yankees like 14 1/2 back, in August of the BoSox years ago...tied on last day and Bucky Dent broke their hearts in a one game playoff? I now have one eye on the Reds. They had lost me for a while. Wonder if the Enquirer will have them back on the front page above the fold, or will they be delegated to D5 of the sports section? Shearn? As in Shearn Jean Mercer, Roy's wife? How big ol boy is he? The Reds just need to keep motoring towards .500... A tremendous climb to make for them considering their rotation is a mess after Harang and Arroyo.
August 27, 200719 yr The Reds really do need some pitchers. I think they have a solid nucleus in the starting rotation, along with an adequate closer...middle relief is a concern, but seems to be showing (dare I say it) signs of improving. What has the Reds performance since Pete Mack took over told us about Narron as a MLB manager? One thing is that it's amazing how guys produce better when they know where they will be hitting in the lineup every time they come to the ballpark...

I agree in that it has been inconsistent at best this year, but I also believe they do have some potential in Belisle, Livingston, Bailey and EZ (maybe as a middle relief guy). At least more potential than I have felt they had in aloooooooooooonbg time.
