Adam Dunn trade rumors (I'm publicly stating I do not want him traded_

Featured Replies

As I said to LRCW in a PM, here are my thoughts:

1. If they deal him he is going to the AL (minimize the haunt factor).

2. I honestly and truthfully believe that Bob and Wayne would rather deal Griffey, probably to Atlanta or the White Sox. With the White Sox not willing to re-sign Buehrle, I think they'd send him here with a minor league for Junior. If you can re-sign Buehrle for Griffey money, you have 4 / 5 (with Bailey) of a very, very nice rotation for the next 5 years. If Belisle pans out, there you go.

3. I, again, truly believe that the Reds would like to see 2009 Opening Day roll around with a 29 year old Dunn in LF, with Hamilton in CF, and Bruce in RF. I honestly believe that.

However, if he is dealt, I'd nearly bet my bottom dollar that it'll be to an AL team.

The Reds are averaging, 4.5 runs per game.

Thats what I'm talking about. They hit 3 homers and score 4 or 5 runs. The team average is (I'm guessing) .250. What's the average with runners in scoring position? My guess its pretty ugly. :creepy:

HSSB, you raise point that some of us know but I don't think, all fans realize about Dunn.....His role is to hit HR's and RBI's, not lead the team or league, in batting average.

Dunn is going to K, without question. He's not going to track down many hits in the gaps, without question. He's not going to win many GG's or lead the league in assists, without question.

He will get you 40± HR's and 100± RBI's. He will have a solid Slugging % and have the ability, to drive one out at any time. Take his offensive production out of the lineup and it won't be replaced, by any current Reds roster players.

It would be disingenuous to ignore his inability to produce when there are runners in scoring position.

How about to the Dodgers for Kemp and Broxton??? :D

If the Reds could pull of a Buehrle for Jr. deal, I'd never complain about another move this management makes.....Unfortunately, I doubt that happens.

I say trade, him RIGHT NOW especially if you can get two or three prospects(PITCHING)

As long as it isn't to CLEVELAND

I've said it before, trade him to San Diego for Linebrink and say, Justin Hampson.

Good post , as I said before, "if" the Reds deal Dunn they had better get some first line talent out of it. I am so tired of seeing the Reds deal players for what I call "bargin basement / rummage sale players" and the player that they deal has sucsess wherever they have gone and we are stuck with crap. How many "former Reds" have came back to kill us, they wear us out.

Sold. You listened to Lance didn't you. :sssh:

Well someone said that today on there and Lance thinks it is absolutely crazy that people want to keep Dunn. Not that his word means jack.... Just intresting.

That would be great if Linebrink wasn't a free agent at the end of the year...

Didn't you just say there wasn't any good help for the bullpen in FA next season? Linebrink's pretty solid if you ask me.

I didn't realize he was until right before that post when I looked it up. He's a very solid set up guy. That should get him about 8 million/year...

With Milty's contract over, I'd gladly spend that on him, although I'd make him the closer.
