Aramis Ramirez just signed a huge contract and already has a history of injuries. I'm taking all comers that Ramirez plays in no more than 110 games.

Why is 3B a need? The Reds have a 24 year old that has played as well as any 3B in the league the past month.

 

Kinda goes back to what STRIKE3 was saying about fans loving players who are hot for the moment. Do you really think EE is a long-term guy for 3B? He's not convinced me yet. With Dunn gone, the outfield is complete with Jr/Hopper-Free/Hamilton. Gonzo/Phillips up the middle.

 

I guess I pointed at 3B because the Reds don't have a young consistent-hitting corner infielder. I wouldn't be opposed to dealing EE either. Maybe keep Dunn in trade EE after reading HS Sportsbest post (which was good btw).

HSSB, you raise point that some of us know but I don't think, all fans realize about Dunn.....His role is to hit HR's and RBI's, not lead the team or league, in batting average.

 

Dunn is going to K, without question. He's not going to track down many hits in the gaps, without question. He's not going to win many GG's or lead the league in assists, without question.

 

He will get you 40± HR's and 100± RBI's. He will have a solid Slugging % and have the ability, to drive one out at any time. Take his offensive production out of the lineup and it won't be replaced, by any current Reds roster players.

I absolutely do. The kid has proven that he can hit. He put up some very impressive numbers last year in his 1st year as a full time starter. He is still only 24 years old, and has shown what kind of defensive player he can be since being recalled. His main problem with the errors have been on throws, and it's just a matter of him getting his footwork correct.

I don't know how its going to happen, but I would like to see the Reds get a guy that can hit over .300. We have some good young players but know one like this. The Reds lead the league in HR's but are not close in average. Where has that got us the last few years?

I'm not saying he is great. I am saying it will leave a HUGE hole in our lineup.

 

I dont think would that much at all. That would mean we have a outfield of Hamilton, Griffery, Hopper, and freel if he is ever healthy again. That lineup looks pretty good to me, you got two guys who can hit for power and drive in runs, and you got Hopper and Freel who cover alot of ground and gives them team some speed. Not to mention we will have Votto coming up in the next year most likely. So IMO it wouldn't make that big of a hole in our lineup, and could possible make us a better team because we definitely would be better defensively, and well assuming we get some pitching back that would also make us better...

Hitting over .300, doesn't help you win games but would certainly create more base runners. I guess the question is, can the Reds and Fans, live without the production of Dunn.

If the Reds were winning and fighting for 1st place with over-achieving performances from the bullpen and certain starters then trading Dunn would not even be a question. You're right. Dunn is not the problem, but he may be part of the solution to find better all-around hitters and younger arms.

You may be right and if they do move Dunn, I hope the return is good for the Reds.

E5 would be in my top four that are off the trading block.
