Watch the rushing yards climb on Cory Farris this year. Going into his senior year he is tied with a former Rebel's career rushing record. (Shawn Alexander) All Coach Thompson has to do is find a way for Cory to gain more than 3,000 yards during Cory's senior year! Cory is an outstanding athlete that will have a difficult decision to make at the end of his senior year, Baseball or Football.:ylsuper:

1. If Coach Thompson doesn't take advantage of his returning qb, you have to question his ability to coach.

2. Unless its a vote based on which sports he likes best, I'd say that decision has already been made.

Jerrel Greene out of dunbar will be the best running back from lexington this year. He has tremendous speed and size. Ty sparks is an absolute work horse for Tates Creek. Donte Gay from Henry clay is also a guy to look out for he's a great catcher out of the backfield. Terrel Combes is a huge back that's hard to take down from Bryan Station. They also have a small but quick back in Patrick Cornette. Lafayette seems to have the only unproven back coming in, from lexington.

Matt Denman from John Hardin has all the intangibles

I totally agree. What a back! Actually they're entire backfield will be one of the best in the state. :thumb:

Hayden from LCA will be one to keep an eye on. Only a Soph. but very talented.

Mark Kelly, NewCath. The kid runs with a motor that doesn't quit and takes more than 1 person to bring him down. He will be one of the top backs in NKY next year.

look for brent buckley from cov cath to have a huge year

Phillip Moore and Robert Walker for Covington Holy Cross could be big this year.

Farris is an all around spectacular athlete I expect to see a lot of news clippings with him as the headliner.

Gatlin Barker and Ryan Crisp from Boyd County.

Sticking with the geography I am most familiar with, the mountains:

1. Shawn Grimm, Johnson Central- State's leading rusher, expect another 2000+ yard season. The class of the mountains.

2. Daniel Harmon, Pikeville- Kid is the complete package as a runner... power, speed, cuts, versatility catching the ball.

3. Dustin May, Belfry- Monster of a running back (6'3, 225). Barring injury, this kid will have his third consecutive 1000 yard season.

4. Joe Roskoph, Lynn Camp- Injuries has kept this kid from putting up mind-boggling numbers, but if he stays healthy this year expect a 2000 yard season.

5. Adam Dials, Sheldon Clark- One of the best running backs you have never heard of. Consistently good.

6. T.R. Christopher, Bell County- Feature back in an offense designed to make HB's look good.

7. Ted Honaker, Pikeville- Extremely quick and agile back.

8. Kenny Hughes, Somerset- Leading rushe rlast seaosn will be vital to team's success and opening up their passing game.

9. Ryan Kelly, Sheldon Clark- 1,000 yard rusher last season. Very big and powerful.

10. Spencer Greer, Bell Conty- Junior HB is 2nd part of potent 1-2 punch at Bell County

Honorable Mention: Michael Campbell (Corbin), Channing Fugate (Breathitt County), Seth Setser (Pburg).

Nathan Griffith (Mercer Co.)

Great kid, big heart, and an absolute punishing runner. Total team player as exhibited last year giving up touches to the dynamic duo of Jackson and Ford. Senior year with his entire line back from last year (from a state record setting rushing team)......watch out for this kid.

(now if coaches can just get him to run AWAY from defensive backs instead of seeking them out to run OVER them......)

Of the ones I have seen:

Cory Farris...Boone County

Dontay Gay...Henry Clay

Daniel Harmon...Pikeville

Ty Sparks...Bryan Station

Jerrell Greene...Dunbar

???? Hayden...Lexington Christian

Shane Israel...Lexington Catholic

Timmy Phillips...Trinity

Terrel Combs...Bryan Station

Isreal, Phillips, and Grimm. After those 3, their is some space.

Great list! I expect Coty Roberts from Lawrence Co to have a HUGE year! He doesn't get a lot of pub but don't be suprised if he breaks out and finishes around the top.
