May 9, 200719 yr I love Jeff Ruby's restaurant's and this will neither stop me from going back, nor make me go more. He has the right to do what he did, whatever the reasoning. I wouldn't have done it, but that's me. I still believe in our courts our system and our law, to me, and those other 12 people on the jury for months, OJ is innocent.
May 9, 200719 yr GT, I don't know how well you actually know him (not just what you read about him in the papers) but Ruby is actually a very nice, caring fellow ( a little cocky and goofy at times, I'll admit) but underneath a tough guy veneer is a great guy with a very big heart. I'm aware of some very charitable things he's done that he does not want made public which would have brought him a lot of very positive publicity if they had gotten out. You can be a cynic if you like and say Ruby only threw OJ out for the publicity. Knowing Ruby pretty well, I have a feeling Ruby can't stand OJ for what he believes OJ did and threw him out for that reason. Had I been in the restaurant that day, I would have applauded also. As for the whole innocence issue, don't forget a civil court found to that OJ did kill Nicole and if you followed the criminal trial you know that it was a circus and an embarrassment to the legal profession in my opinion. Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of his daughter! :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire:
May 9, 200719 yr LOL, Let me get this straight, People are comparing someone's past drug convictions to a murder? LOL! Not that I am agreeing with that kind of drug use, but people do make mistakes and bad judgments in their lives, we all do! But did he kill anyone? NO! That was what? 6 years ago? It's not like it was last month. Maybe OJ has second thoughts about what people assume he did, but that isn't going to bring those two who were murdered back. Comparing apples and oranges here.Right on! :thumb: I don't care what Ruby has in his past, it doesn't measure up to what OJ did. And it really is irrelevant. He did the right thing and made a point. More people should follow his example when dealing with OJ. And if Ruby should happen to benefit from his actions, then so be it. That's just good business sense!
May 9, 200719 yr Well, well, well, OJ is pulling the race card. Just heard on the news that OJ's attorney's are putting a case together against Ruby claiming he was thrown out of the restaurant due to race. That didn't take long!
May 9, 200719 yr He has the right to do what he did, whatever the reasoning. I agree with this. OJ is innocent. Not innocent Not even not guilty Just not proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt
May 9, 200719 yr Not innocent Not even not guilty Just not proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt Semantics. :jump:
May 9, 200719 yr Just not proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt Yes he was. He just wasn't declared to be so.
May 9, 200719 yr I don't know 'Ruby or Simpson, but I would have applauded if I had been there also. Few businessmen I know would have done that. Even considering the publicity, there is too much risk and the fallout can be a big problem that far outlasts the public approval. It was a spur of the moment decision and I'm sure his heart was in it. I'm not saying it was a moral decision, but it wasn't just for free advertising either, IMO.
May 9, 200719 yr I still believe in our courts our system and our law, to me, and those other 12 people on the jury for months, OJ is innocent. What about that guy that sat in jail for 20 years down in North Carolina for a murder case that he did not commit. Even when his appeal lawyers found dna evidence and it did not match his, they still waited ten years after that to reverse the charges. It took the real murderer's confession to get this poor guy out. The Judge admited they were wrong and paid the guy over a million dollars. Our Courts arent always right. If you have enough money, you can get out of pretty much anything(like Oj did) and vice versa. That being said, i dont mind what Jeff Ruby did. Always did like his food and i will still go there.
May 9, 200719 yr I just can't believe Deuce is taking up for OJ. Being against Ruby in this is not the same as taking up for OJ. It isn't that black and white. Deuce's stand is that Ruby is hypocritical in throwing OJ out in light of what he himself has been convicted of, and that he thinks it is for publicity. I for one, agree.
May 9, 200719 yr On a side note, he owes me $35. I might walk into the Precinct and order a salad and water then leave without paying...we'll call it even...
May 9, 200719 yr I wonder if the publicity he had to know would come from this action was part of his motivation for doing so. How many other customers has he served whom have been acquitted of charges by a jury of their peers? Would he serve the Duke Lacross boys? Apples and Oranges there. Charges were dropped against those boys and the prosecuter involved is facing his own investigation into how that entire case was handled. They never even went to trial. Personally, I support Jeff Ruby for taking a stand. Wonder how much of the settlement OJ has paid the Goldman family and yet, he can afford a high end restaurant like that? Good luck on the racial discrimmination case. The world needs another frivilous law suit. Hope some judge nips that one before it goes too far.
May 9, 200719 yr Ruby's restaurant; I suppose he can serve whomever he wants and face whatever hits the fan afterwards. That being said; I don't think that I could watch The Juice carving a steak at the table next to me.:scared:
