May 9, 200719 yr It seems like I heard he did. I believe LN is referring to other behind the scenes charity work he's done without publicity being attached to it. That would be correct 75. Ruby has this tough NY kind of guy image (which he fosters). If that's all you know about him, you think he's a real jerk. And I realize he's had his own difficulties with the law and that he's no saint. But if you really have the opportunity to get to know him, you realize his tough guy demeanor is more of an act than reality. Guy grew up in a tough family situation that he has worked very hard to overcome. He hasn't forgotten what it was like and helps out a lot of people who need helping. Quietly I might add.
May 9, 200719 yr I totally agree. His restaurant, he can serve who he wants, but O.J. was proven innocnet of the crimes in court. Again, he was definitely not proven innocent. He just wasn't proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And he was found guilty in the civil court case.

May 9, 200719 yr Also, just to throw this in, law-wise you're sort of off base a little bit. According to common law, an acquittal formally certifies the innocence of the accused, as far as the criminal law is concerned.

Although my statement was correct as to the finding in the courtroom, the end result, as far as his "record" is concerned, is the criminal justice system treats him as innocent. I know I'm being anal today for no apparent reason, but "not guilty" in a jury finding does not equal "innocent". It's not just semantics either, there is a real difference (even if their is no difference on his record).

May 9, 200719 yr OJ has shown no true remorse for what happened to the victims nor their families. He flaunts the fact that he is still living a celebrity type lifestyle while still owing millions on the civil trial award. He tries to cash in on the murders with his book. He has done far more to other individuals than Ruby appears to have. From what has been shown here, Ruby has hurt himself more than anything and as was stated, it was 6 years ago. While I agree we should not throw stones, most of us feel that the criminal trial was a joke and he did commit the crmes he was charged with. As for the discrimination charge, I'm not sure he has a leg to stand on since there were whites in his entourage and they were also asked to leave. Also, I got the impression that one reason they were asked to leave had to do with the commotion they were causing with their presence. In any event, how anyone can defend OJ in this is beyond me.
