Wireman Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Radio talkshow host Don Imus really put himself into a bad situation with some questionable racial remarks last week. Now, he has issued an apology that was even worse, IMO. The whole thing started when he made some off the wall comments about the Rutger's women's basketball team. Here is an article from ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/news/story?id=2830302
HOMELESS CAMEL Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 What continues to amaze me is people that say these things to begin with. We live in a world where EVERYTHING is available online within minutes and we have all seen countless stories where someone says something stupid. You would think people would learn and avoid these kind of comments, but apparently these people are as stupid as the remarks they made.
spindoc Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Yes and since Tubby left UK on his own accord and wasn't "fired" Al Sharpton hasn't spent a month's rant in Lexington and had nothing to do so enjoy some wild hair in your face Imus.
Wireman Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 "We cannot keep going through offending us and then apologizing and then acting like it never happened. Somewhere we've got to stop this." -- Rev. Al Sharpton
Wireman Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 Howard Stern said on his show this morning that Imus used to throw around the "N" word like it was second nature when they worked together at NBC. Sounds like he has some racial issues.
stickymitts Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 People are people not races or ethnicities. And some are morons...
STRIKE3 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I heard the comments and Imus, along with many other of these "personalities", think they have no recourse, because of free speech. His comments were extremely disrespectful, racist and disgusting....similar to his show and his personality. Boycott thugs like this and there ratings drop, then they get canned.

Imus has the personality of Sybil.
Run To State Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Well then, let's do something about Hip Hop lyrics. Oh that's right, that double standard is OK. :sssh:
UKPat02 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Well then, let's do something about Hip Hop lyrics. Oh that's right, that double standard is OK. :sssh: Game, set, match RTS.
UKPat02 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I don't even know why Al Sharpton had to get involved. I can't stand that guy.
Wireman Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Imus' show has been suspended by the major players: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17999196/?GT1=9246
cshs81 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Well then, let's do something about Hip Hop lyrics. Oh that's right, that double standard is OK. :sssh: I'm the very last person you'll see defending the lyrics but I'd say we're not comparing apples to apples. Hip hop plays to its audience and its audience is not bothered (apparently) by the lyrics. Imus' show is basically a news show/ talk show which makes it different than hip hop.
