Imus Steps Into the Hornet's Nest

Radio talkshow host Don Imus really put himself into a bad situation with some questionable racial remarks last week. Now, he has issued an apology that was even worse, IMO. The whole thing started when he made some off the wall comments about the Rutger's women's basketball team. Here is an article from ESPN:

What continues to amaze me is people that say these things to begin with. We live in a world where EVERYTHING is available online within minutes and we have all seen countless stories where someone says something stupid.

 

You would think people would learn and avoid these kind of comments, but apparently these people are as stupid as the remarks they made.

Howard Stern said on his show this morning that Imus used to throw around the "N" word like it was second nature when they worked together at NBC. Sounds like he has some racial issues.

I heard the comments and Imus, along with many other of these "personalities", think they have no recourse, because of free speech.

 

His comments were extremely disrespectful, racist and disgusting....similar to his show and his personality.

I'm the very last person you'll see defending the lyrics but I'd say we're not comparing apples to apples.

 

Hip hop plays to its audience and its audience is not bothered (apparently) by the lyrics.

 

Imus' show is basically a news show/ talk show which makes it different than hip hop.
