April 12, 200719 yr It doesn't make it any less offensive, especially to many, many African Americans. You can't say a word is wrong if one man says it but its okay if another uses it. I'm not really following your last sentence, maybe I'm reading it wrong. But it happens with hillbilly or whitey or cracker the same way it happens with the 'n' word. It's the exact same thing. Some white people are offended by those terms others may think it's a "badge of honor" as you put it, or some (like me) flat out don't care as long as there's no malice with it. Also, to be clear I'm not isolating BGP, just going off the other poster's example.
