I get it, you don't like Imus. But the reason this is such an issue IS because of skin color, like it or not. Regardless of how you see it. But I don't think that the fact that a gross double-standard exists somehow should exempt us from patrolling the bad behavior ourselves. The double-standard is what the media bombs us with, but the fact remains that Don Imus said some nasty things about some people who hadn't done anything to him. 30 years ago there is no question that he would be fired, and probably also beaten up by these girls family members. Has the fact that the world has changed in 30 years, that there now is a gross double-standard that is publicized, that we have Sharptons and Jackson's mouthing off, somehow exempt us from our responsibility of taking this man off the airwaves? No. What was truth 30 years ago is still truth today, that his behavior is unacceptable. Can him.I don't know that I agree with the part in bold. I know I don't agree with the firing him part. Were people too sensitive then, or did it really come down to a question of honor, and ethics? Call someone a name, get punished, simple as that.
