Eastern Kentuckians have pride and probably say things in the hope that maybe it may be their year once again. You know, it does happen occasionally.....Hazard 1955, Carr Creek 1956, Laurel County 1982, Paintsville 1995, and South Laurel 2005.

And our girls teams have done fairly well too.

Well I will give you guys credit for heart, lack none of that but I get sick of hearing all the non respect crap. I stand by my statement, WC is WKY and I hope they win by a ton.

WKY is mostly rural and you dont see us constantly whinning for respect.

To say that Central didnt take the game as serious and that they were not as hyped about the game IMO is being disrespectful to Shelby Valley in regard to the game on 1-27-07.

I didn't state it as a fact ... I clearly labeled it as my opinion. I think it's a very reasonable one, given the circumstances I laid out.

 

I don't see that as being disrespectful. But if you have a chip on your shoulder about it, I can see why you would take it that way.

Love the mountain teams and am rooting for all 3. At Rupp in March anything can happen on any given day,BUT reality is a factor and JBS just can't match athletically with WC and it will not be a blowout because JBS will slow it down if they have to. In the end the result will be the same 14th goes home early and the father/son admin team that got them there can bask in all their glory. FOR NOW.

Agreed. Seems to me the Mountain fans thrive for attention. Dont get me wrong, no one should be counted out, not Mountain fans, not NKY fans, not Louisville, Lexington, etc... but I get your point, that the Mountain fans feel they get owed something... I think when a team from the Mountains (and when I say Mountain I mainly speak of the 14th, 15th, and 16th region) actually does something in Basketball, then they should get the respect they deserve. But why should the rest of Kentucky respect the EKY when EKy constantly knocks out the Sweet 16. For example:

 

2006:

Graves Co. over Russell

Graves Co. over South Laurel

Jeffersontown over Johnson Central

 

2005:

Elizabethtown over Perry County Central

University Heights over Rowan County

Henry Clay over Shelby Valley

South Laruel did win state this year. I'm not exactly sure on my geography, but would that be considered East or Mid Central KY? Alot of people are picky on that.

South Laurel was in the 12th region at that time,but are now in the 13th.They're are a lot of 13th region teams that are southeast Kentucky also.South and Corbin and teams around there in the 13th are more so eastern Kentucky IMO,but the 13th is and should be considered a mountain region also.

KY people fail to realize one thing. In the big, national picture. KY in general, as a whole is looked at as a rural, country, hick state. Just the way it is.

Thanks, doc! Nobody knew that. This isn't a national discussion, though. Its a state discussion. And the mountain regions, and to a lesser-extent the far western regions, are the outlying "country" folks compared to Louisville/Lexington/Covington, etc.

I'll take Warren Central by 30 over JBS and by 15 over the Elliott/Shelby Valley winner.

You forgot Clay County in 1987. Clay also made the finals in '85 & '88. They also made the final four in '90 and '92. Clay girls also won it all in '89.

How does Warren Central defend the three? If JBS gets hot from beyond the arc they could possibly give WC trouble....JBS has three guys who can absolutely fill it up.:fire:
