It seems that some don't believe that it counts for much to play in front of thousands of people on a college-sized floor instead of in front of 50 on a Saturday one night after playing a rival, but it does. I have seen the shock effect of playing in Rupp many times.

Do not mistake this for completely throwing out that game. I believe that Shelby Valley has proven that they are capable of playing with the Dragons and they may well do it again should they face. I am merely reminding you that typically Warren Central plays their best ball in February and March and Rupp Arena is not comparable to North Hardin.

(give us a break from the excuses) the game is what the game is, a 63-60 win for Warren Central. As for the part about the shock effect of playing in Rupp Arena, I dont think you will have to worry about that bothering JBS and especially not Shelby Valley. Those Shelby Valley boys have played so many basketball games over the last 3 or 4 years (and at a very high level of excellence) in AAU and other off season tournaments that they will be ready and they will already have one game at Rupp under their belts if they get to the 2nd round and IF Central also gets there. So if you want to go ahead and pencil your mighty Dragons in the final four, but remember that The Old School Dr. warned you Beware of the mountain boys in 2007.

JBS is no push over.....just ask Mason County. Mason got lucky with that game. Beware of JBS if they start hitting early, they have some sharp shooters on that team. Play pretty good defense as well. I hope for a good game with JBS winning by 6.

As far as calling them excuses, that's probably fair. But I again will note that if you ask anyone that knows anything about it, it's different in Rupp in March. Heck, that might even mean that WC will get blown away. Who knows.

No sir I have not, but I am giving them credit for their record their ranking and their recent history in the sweet 16 and I am not saying that they will not get to the final 4. What I am saying is that these 2 mountain teams are very good basketball teams and they are capable of playing with a lot of highly ranked teams. They have both been building these teams for 3 or 4 years now and they are seasoned, talented teams that are capable of winning a game or 2 at the sweet 16 and regarless of whether or not they win a game or 2, they will play very well and the fans will appreciate them.

I see Shelby Valley in my nightmares:lol: , JBS at the WYMT and at the Expo, Elliot against South Charleston WV, WC with my dad at the LIT against Male and Doss and the SV film

My take is this -

 

WC is the most athletic and most experienced of the bunch.

 

The athleticism gap is not big enough to become a huge factor, but the experience is.

 

JBS has some size and very, very nice guards but to be honest they are very lacking in the team concept(when I watched) and much more lacking in the coaching department.

 

Shelby Valley is loaded with young athletes and high basketball IQ players that have played more games together than probably anyone in the state, IMVHO they are a big guy away from being the best of the 4 teams we are talking about.

 

Elliot Co. - has some good athletes for the mountains, but they got beat by a South Charleston team that looked flat out more athletic but not as good basketball IQ when I saw them and that was kinda of early and only one game.

As a mountain Basketball FAN the Game of High School Basketball has gotten better this year,but athlete for athlete The Mountian Teams dont seem to do well in Rupp,I will be for JBS,and hope they win,but thats all we can do is support all our Teams from mountians,and HOPE they make to the Finals and make this a very good tourney if not Saturday games will not have a good crowd,we all know that,Maybe the Slipper will fit a mountian Team ,we jest HOPE!!!

Good luck to the mountain teams. I've seen a lot of upsets the last 26 years of the "sweet sixteen". Nothing is impossible at this point in the season. A lot of people are really taking for granted these games are set and stone. The more the under-dogs stick around the louder the"nuetral" fans get for them.Not saying it's going to happen, just don't count them out 2 days before the tourney starts.

Well aware of it ... and, like DragonFire, I also know that it means very little now.

 

Not being at the game, I suspect that Shelby Valley took it a little more seriously than Warren Central did. The Dragons will be ready no matter who is put in front of them.
