Yes I know.

What I didn’t know was if CC students were given the day off?

I'm not positive, but I believe they were.

You have to beat the good teams at some point.

My takeaway from this game is X is better, they have better talent, a good amount better talent than CCH.

Regarding seeding: Tackett is on record saying the state tournament has never been about getting the top 16 teams to play each other, or having the top two teams in the finals. He and the KHSAA believe the state tournament needs to have “equal geographic representation.” Although it’s a horrible way to decide a state champion, it’s not going to change any time soon.

If that statement is true, then Tackett needs to take the RPI and throw it in the trash bin. Why have it, if you're not going to use it, and you can't pick and choose which sports will use it and which will not. Use it across the board, or not at all.

So its hard to say that this was the "Championship Game".

Yes, North Oldham did beat St. X earlier in the year, but it's not hard at all to say that CC/ST X game was the state championship game. I will stand behind that statement until someone beats them, and the way X played Wednesday, I don't see anyone in this tournament doing it.

So was this still the “State Championship game” considering North Laurel just gave St. X a better game, and had a chance to win it with 15 seconds left and the ball?

Cov Cath beat North Laurel by 4 earlier in the season. North Laurel is very good team. Had Cov Cath not been matched up with St. X in first round it's possible could have made the championship if on the other side of the bracket.

I never said otherwise. I am just commenting on how we see this happen a lot at the state tournament, when top teams have to play early. People complain, say this should have been the state championship game, etc. Yet then the team that wins that game, ends up losing or even having a closer game against someone else.

Which CovCath is a great team and with a different draw, they possibly make it further. However, let’s not discredit other teams by saying well that was the Championship game. Which North Laurel just showed how that shouldn’t be said. As they gave even a better game than Covcath did. So should we say that this was the state championship game then, since this one was better?

My biggest point is, this tournament is great. Every year we see teams surprise people. Let’s just enjoy it, as we’re getting great basketball.

Yes sir, it was the State Championship game. When two top teams meet, there tends to be a let down from the emotional high from the previous game. Which I think may have been the case for St. X in this game.

So basically now you want to go with excuses. Also based on how that game went, and how some other teams have looked. You can’t say those were easily the two best teams. Especially when the other best team as you say got dominated for the most part after the first quarter.

It is definitely a good thing games are played on the court, and not based off peoples opinions.

I feel like I have heard this argument in previous years, when two top teams play early. People say that this was the "championship game" Yet then the team that won that game, still doesn't even end up winning it all. St. X is definitely a favorite, but there is also another team still in the tournament that has already beaten St. X this year. So its hard to say that this was the "Championship Game".

At the end of the day both teams had plenty of time to prepare for each other, scout, game plan, and both one equal footing with it being the first game and dealing with nerves, etc. If these two teams played later on, then we also hear the excuses well this team had more rest, etc.

It was two good teams that went at it, and won team simply played better. Now let's see if St. X can finish the deal and win it all.

As I said! We have heard people try to claim this was the state championship game in other years too, when two top teams plays early in the tournament. Only for neither team to end up winning it.

CovCath and St. X were two great teams, both very capable of winning it all.  However, as we have seen there were other teams as well very capable of winning it all.

I still say that St X was the best team there; however, on Saturday GRC was the better team. St. X had opportunities and didn't take advantage of them. The great thing about any tournament, the best team does not always win.

Which gets back to, the championship game wasn’t on Wednesday, and silly to proclaim it as that. As we see with tournament play, anything can happen. I’m glad we’re in agreement.

St. Xavier’s student section booed Athens McGillis when he was accepting his KABC Player of the Year award.  They also yelled and heckled him when he was walking off the court past them. Thought it showed a lack of class and poor leadership since the administrators, who were standing right in front of the students, smiled and did nothing.
