There are four guys who have reported FCS or FBS offers. Yes, I know most of those probably aren’t committable yet, but the size and athleticism is there. Brandon Smith will very likely make that five at some point. Players like Dylan Courtney, Cash Myers and Kiyan Miller could easily join them or end up at a high D2 or NAIA program. That’s a lot of talent for KY 4A.

People really need to read that above and know that it is absolutely true.  We will be more athletic than we have been and I know what we had last year, but this groups is going to be different and better. 

I fully expect Cash Meyer, Dylan Courtney, and especially in a huge huge way Brandon Smith to have breakout monster years on both sides of the ball.  And Pitzer may just explode on both sides of the ball as this is His year.  Our upcoming Sophomore class is arguably the most talented class we have had and a few of those youngsters will be heard from early and often.  

Early prediction…..if we keep Elder’s QB Estep in-check and bring the same fight to Highlands we brought last year, we will run the table in the regular season…..yes, that means beating Elder.

Mostly because the elephant in the room is the monster upgrade we made in the Coaching Staff bringing in Coach Woolf (‘88) and Coach Weinrich.  We were a great staff before and now we are legendary.  

Talent will carry the day as Dudes from all 3 classes will contribute.  They will be a fun team to watch……

Yes, those 3 skill players for Beechwood are beyond special and we are mostly young at the skills, but with Thornton, Cogswell, and Reardon backed up by our front 7 on D and our OLine, and the fact that our overall team conditioning will be miles better, I’ll take a dominant win in the trenches for Cov Cath to prevail on the scoreboard.  Might be close, but the trenches get it done for Cov Cath 

Queen maybe can’t scramble or escape pressure but I don’t think the Cov Cath front 7 will be a major problem because he gets the ball out fast and he makes up with the running by being one of the best Passing QB’s in the state. You don’t get offers from UK, ASU, and Wake Forest by accident. He’s very accurate only 2-3 forget which exact number of interceptions he threw but it was very low. And throws the ball with anticipation. And he has Fryman to throw the ball too. I don’t think Lind and Robinson will be much of a factor as people think. I have faith in Beechwood’s O Line to be able to buy enough time for Queen to get the ball out to one of the best receiving cores in the state which I don’t think will be a lot of time at all. The Colonels are outmatched in the secondary and it’s gonna show on the scoreboard.

It is looney tunes is the nicest way I can say it if you think Lind and Robinson will not be much of a factor……I spilled my Adult Soda laughing so dang hysterically at that little nugget.  Lind was all Greater Cincinnati last year as a Junior.  Lind is a superior athlete to Queen in every way and there is not a single Beechwood OLineman that will be able to block Lind, let alone both Lind and Robinson.  It’s not even close.  To even suggest that is just straight disrespect period.  I mean there is being a homer, which I happily admit to being easily, and there is just not knowing or understanding talent and how that talent absolutely disrupts everything and everyone.  There is no debate on the fact Cov. Cath.’s front 7, led by Lind and Robinson, is superior.  It’s not even close.  Games are won in the trenches and to not get that is to not get football.

I'm not discounting the loss of Coach Brown at all. But what I will say is that as the defensive coordinator, Coach Brown's defensive schemes at Cov Cath were always very dependent on having Lee Teegarden in the pressbox calling out changes from play to play...similar to the way Coach Ray's most potent offenses during the 1980s and 1990s were dependent on having Bob Noll on the sideline and Tim Hobbs up in the pressbox talking in Noll's ear.

Lee Teegarden has stayed on at Cov Cath and the defensive coaching staff has been bolstered with the addition of Mike Woolf, who saw marked success as defensive coordinator on Bryson Warner's Ryle staff, and Brian Weinrich, who saw obvious success as defensive coordinator on Dale Mueller's Highlands staff. All three have varsity head coaching experience in their resumes, and all three have been major players on coaching staffs that have produced state finals appearances.

I'm not remotely making any calls on who is better or best among any group of coaches, but I'll just say that I feel like the Cov Cath defense is in extremely capable hands.

I appreciate that feedback and perspective. I am a huge Terry Brown fan and think his defenses have been at the core of Cov Cath's success. I know Woolf and Weinrich have great resumes. I don't doubt they will put a great CCH defense on the field. If their defense is as good as it was under Terry Brown, they will have a defense to be proud of.

Anyone want to take a crack at the lineup now that Spring ball is over…..heard Courtney looked unreal at QB; Cash Meyer is moving to RB; starting RB though is rumored to be very unsettled; the OLine is unsettled and they have a lot of pieces on D that they are still trying to fit in.   2 biggest questions for me; will the Colonels throw more this year with Courtney’s monster arm and with all the insane WR talent and did Coach Woolf move the D from a 3-4 to a 4-3?

I have a love hate relationship with the 3-4 defense.  I think the 3-4 is a very good defense but don't think it is a great fit for the high school level.  I'm not sure the kids are physically developed enough to handle that defense yet.   I'll say this because most every outside LB that has played for CCH over the last 8-9 years has had at least one torn shoulder labrum.  I would not be upset to see CCH shy away from the 3-4 as the base defense and lean more towards the 4-3.
