I’ll chime in and hopefully get this thread going a bit…..my info is that the deal is done and this is going to a whale of an awesome thing for the Colonels in the building and for all future Colonels. That being said will we stick with the 3-4 or are we moving to a 4-3 or a 5-2?

And now that workouts have commenced anyone want to take a crack at the lineups? I have to assume Dylan Courtney now carries the keys to offense for the next 2 seasons….

And thanks to the KHSAA, is everyone excited about moving to 6A in ‘27?

I'm really interested about the defensive alignment, too. I honestly have no idea what defensive fronts Mike Woolf ran while he was DC at Campbell County, DC at Ryle, or head coach Campbell County.

Also relevant to that discussion, I'm also not sure whether Lee Teegarden is staying at Cov Cath or if he's headed to New Cath with Terry Brown. Coach Teegarden had a whole lot of influence on the defensive play under Coach Brown. If Teegarden is staying at Cov Cath, I don't know if he'll just defer completely to Coach Woolf to determine the defensive front, or if the alignment will end up being a product of the two of them coming to a consensus. I'd assume as DC, the alignment will be Coach Woolf's call since it's his baby, at the end of the day. But if you've got more than one guy with HFC experience working on coaching the same defense, you've gotta think they're going to be putting their heads together on things to make joint decisions a little more than they might do otherwise.

Pretty sure Lee and Mr. Woolf worked together previously.

I think I was told Teegarden and Woolf both coached at Ryle on Bryson Warner's staff. Plus with Teegarden being a Campbell County grad and Woolf having done two stints at Campbell County, there may have been some crossover during Woolf's first coaching stop at Campbell County.

Thank you. Wow is all I can say. Skip over Class 5A and go with the big horses- Trinity, X, and Freddy D to name a few. 

If this happens I am interested in seeing the district of teams CCH is in with.

Per the male enrollment numbers the KHSAA released yesterday with their agenda, Cov Cath had 422 students in 24-25 and 437 students in 25-26, so our 2-year average enrollment (which is the number they use for establishing football classification) of 529.5.

However, assuming the 1.35 private school multiplier does hold up and is used for the 2027-2028 football alignment, then 1.35 x 529.5 = 714.825 adjusted male enrollment....and comparing that to all the other schools' enrollment numbers around the state, that would pretty assuredly have Cov Cath right around the 5th-largest school in 5A, and NOT in 6A.

Highlands' enrollment average will have them as one of the largest teams in 4A, and evidently the KHSAA is not planning on hearing any schools' petitions to move up in classification due to geographical isolation, which means Highlands will be staying in 4A for 2027-2028. That means 5A football in NKY will be Boone County, Conner, Cooper, Cov Cath, Dixie Heights, and Scott. Since there aren't any other particularly local 5A schools in the state, I'm assuming that those 6 teams will all make up one single 5A district in NKY.

All that being said...I know the realignment is big news right now, especially for Cov Cath, given the whole private school multiplier dumpster fire. But that whole discussion really is meant for the 2027-2028 Football Realignment thread, and this thread is about 2026 Cov Cath Football, so try to refer the realignment discussion to the realignment thread and not this one.

Indy Cathedral now has the game posted to their football team's 2026 schedule, so not that I was really doubting it, but that confirms that that game is officially official.

The Cathedral Irish, who are the nation's winningest football program to have never had a home football field, will be hosting the Colonels at Butler University's Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl, about 5 miles west of Cathedral's Campus.

What a nice field. I didn't even know Butler had football at any level.

Some serious new additions to the CCH Staff were at workouts today to meet the players.  Big big time hires…..I assume that means it’s public, but still holding off…..one of the hires is going to mess with one of our rivals big time!!!  Our Defense and OLine just got a load better by far…..these are both in addition to Coach Woolf!
