Steelers #1 hot mess team on ESPN this morning.  They booed Tomlin and chanted for them to fire him this season   He had enough of it.  Hope he coaches elsewhere soon makes the Steelers pay.  The Steeler fan base got want they wanted.  Let’s see how it works out for them   Front office failed him. Drafted Kenny Pickett   How did that go?  They don’t have the personnel to win right away.  Big time pressure on the next guy with that fan base

To clarify further, I believe you mean serving as a head coach for one team, and not ever seeing that again. The tenure of NFL coaches has never been very long, but outliers exist. Andy Reid is currently at 13 years with the Chiefs. Age would be the only thing preventing him. He was at Phildelphia for 14 years. McVay, Shannahan, and McDermott are behind him at 9 years. The first two seem to be in a safe position - and super-young by NFL coaching standards - but these things can quickly flip. Point being, I do not believe it is out of the realm to assume others will get to 18+ years. Commonplace? No. But it never has been.

He's a good interview, but I don't know about full-time TV. 

If mush mouth Cower can be on TV, I think that Tomblin can handle it...

So the great franchises of Baltimore and Pittsburgh, who supposedly do such a great job of evaluating talent and building a team, have both let their coaches walk out the door after they won a combined 3 (Ravens 3, Steelers 0) playoff games in the past 10 years.  The cheap, frugal, dysfunctional Bengals have 5 wins.  This just gives Mike Brown incentive to fire a couple of scouts.  

This job is one of the least attractive openings out there.    The organization has proven patience to build a winner but the roster, QB situation, and expectations of the fan base make it one of the least desirable jobs.  Good luck.

Yes, correct, hence the "length of tenure with one team."

Trust me, I hope I'm wrong. For whatever the reason's...age, fan bases growing disgruntled, etc. 

Just a take, that's all & one that I can assure you...hoping is wrong.

Bengals have had 2 good season in 8 years. Steelers are good every year.

It will be interesting to see what the Steelers do in free agency they have the 8th most amount of money to spend.

I guess everyone's definition of good is different.  Many would say that the Marvin Lewis era was good because they were competitive quite often.  Other's would say it was bad because he never won a playoff game.  Perspective.

There is a difference between being good and there being no path forward to compete for a title. I believe in Tomlin's (and Harbaugh's) case, a change of scenery is good for both sides. How many of you work at jobs for 19+ years? Things get stale, eventually. 

I think Tomlin is bluffing on the TV and will go to a team. He is a good coach.

I think the person that should be fired is the GM Omar Kahn. For what you said above and put together the one of the most expensive defense in NFL history and their track record at drafting quarterbacks since Big Ben.
