Winning the Regioanl Tournament. Getting to the Sweet 16 is the pinnacle for any team. If you go on and win the Championship that would be an added bonous.

I'd rather win a regional title. That would put you into the "Big Show" and where most would love to play, Rupp Arena. All "A" State Championship doesn't fall too far back on the list of "priorities" though.

Until they class all teams in the state in basketball (not going to happen) IMO the All-A is just another mid-season tournment, great to go to and win, but going to Rupp and playing for the sweet sixteen I'll take anytime even if you are one and done.

I would have to agree on playing in Rupp, it would be Sweet !

It doesn't look like I am in a minority so far, I am a fan of a class A school and I am all for the small schools but I just believe that the regionals and Sweet 16 is what it is all about in Kentucky.

I'm sorry but there is something special about the ALL A.

The atmosphere is elecrifying. I agree with Striker, why not win both.

St. Henry did it a few years ago and darn near won both.

My senior year we won both the All "A" State championship and the region. Both were very nice but I would have to say winning the All "A" state was better. The atmosphere is awesome at MacBrayer Arena was incredible! They treat you like kings and nothing beats hoisting a state championship trophy and then doing the "Lambeau" leap into the cheering section.

Playing at Rupp was a great experience also but the atmosphere at Rupp 9,000 people in a 23,000 seat arena, compared to 9,000 ina 12,000 seat arena makes for a much more intense atmosphere. At Rupp you hear evrything, even conversations in the first few rows. The Finals at MacBrayer was Loud and in my opinion, a much better experience.

That's a tough question. My school, Owsley County, has been to the state All A 4 times, with a runner-up finish in 1990 and a semi-finals in 2000. The 1990 tournament was in Memorial Coluseum in Lexington and was unbelievable. That was the first year it was a state wide tournament, and the crowds were huge.

But we have never been to the Sweet 16.:cry: We've come close...region runner-up in 1983 and 1985. Oh, just to make it to Rupp one time would be so great a feeling for our county and it's 4,800 residents! It gives me cold chills to think about it.

 

I can't decide on the questions because I'm torn between the two, and I don't want to demean our 1990 state runner-up accomplishments.

Either choice would have to be a wonderful feeling.

Playing at RUPP no Doubt but either one would bring a player a fan a coach a cheerleader, a lifetime of memories and isnt High School suppose to be about the kids so If you pick all A or if you pick Regional champs i can agree with you on either.

I would say Region just for the chance to say you played at rupp, and you are one of the top 16 schools in the state.

Being from a Single A school in the 16th region, I would have rather win the regional championship and get to play in Rupp Arena than have won an all "A" state championship. I think that it means something just to be able to say that you have played in rupp arena. I could be a little biased due to being a huge Kentucky fan though.
