Maybe the best Atherton team ever….maybe the worst BG team in 15 years…..and I still think BG is going to win.  Atherton was really good 2 years ago.  They were 11-1 and hosting Owensboro.  I heard the same talk then as now - although I agree they are better now.  Owensboro pasted them 43-7.  I don’t expect a paste, but expect BG to handle business.  If Atherton wins going away, I will buy they are a top contender.

This is definitely most talented Atherton team in years. I'm looking forward to see how this game plays out. I think BG wins a competitive game.

Yeah, but, imo, Manual is 2-3 TDs better than the Purples. Atherton competed very well with a great team. This was the only team that had any success offensively against Atherton and I don't think BG will be able to exploit them that well. I'm sure BG will put together a few explosive plays and score 17 to 21 points, but, unable to consistently move the chains. Atherton's defensive athleticism will keep them hanging around and the O will be able to manufacture just enough to get the win. A 21 BG 17 

I have the Bowling Green Daily News article from the game last year and thought I'd post it here in case anyone wanted to see how last year went down in BG.  But this year is a different game with different teams.  But history is also history.

Atherton’s squad is substantially different from last year and Bailey isn’t on Bowling Green’s roster. 
 

I watched Atherton twice this year against Manual and North Oldham. They went toe to toe with Manual and absolutely crushed North Oldham. The  Ravens are a good football team with lots of speed and more size than in years past. 

 

BG alum picks Atherton.

This game will be won in the trenches and explosives. 

I think Mr. Barber and company will be up for the challenge against the Ravens. Lots of athletes on the field. 

Impossible to prove and is a mute point but I think if Travy Barber had been healthy all year he would have broken all-time receiving record at BG and probably would/could have been Mr Football this season. 

He’s healthy and Purples are ready.

Gonna be a wet one. Good luck to both teams and hoping for no injuries.

I like Atherton in this game.  Went toe to toe with Boyle earlier.  They have a very good defense.

Would you compare them to Frederick Douglass? I can only seem to find Athertons 1st game of the season against a really bad Central Hardin squad so its really hard to judge how good they are. The Manual close game is impressive.

Kinda hard to say as Boyle played Atherton in early August for a scrimmage and Douglas last week in October. I would think they are very similar on defense.  They have the athletes.

I guess we’ll find out tonight what they’re really about. If they beat BG I believe they make it to the finals.

Douglass is better in the trenches than Atherton on both sides of the football. Atherton has speed at skill positions and make plays via screen game or deep passes on offense. Don’t think they will be able to run the ball consistently against BG. If the Purples can tackle well in space and keep guys in front of them the Ravens will struggle offensively. They play with 7 DB type kids on defense so they swarm to the football with incredible speed in the run game and naturally cover well. BG offense has to be well balanced to keep them honest.
