  1. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Nothing changes with this defense BG defense is as low as they have been in 20 years. Not sure how (or if) it can be fixed. Refer back to the definition of insanity....
  2. No words (nor excuses) of how bad BG defense is. Last year and this year. It's more than last years injuries and this years youthfulness. Yes, you're playing strong schedule but how often does a BG team score in 40s and get beat? 17 games ago, we were back to back state champs. The last 16 games is the overall worst defensive performance a BG unit has had in DECADES. Folks can fuss on me all they want but there's not 5 people that has followed Purples like I have in past 40 years. The sun will shine again but dark clouds have set in. Our sophomore class could be top 5 class (easily) we've ever had. Our QB is great and is a legit D1 - it's hard to watch the defense. Again, something bad wrong
  3. Great job, 88! BGHS fans (including me!) have been very spoiled the last few DECADES. Last season was the FIRST season where the, “You don’t rebuild, you reload” statement was not true for the Purples. I don’t think you can name 3 or 4 programs in all of the Bluegrass that has had more recent success than Bowling Green. The Purples must have a dominant offensive line next season. If they don’t, we will have the same record as we had this past season. I know we have other areas that need improvement, but it begins with the offensive line, in my opinion. I never thought we would have to rebuild due to such tremendous success we have experienced but …. we are now back to reality. We can climb to the top again but it will not be immediate. I do think we have a solid QB at the helm. Again, spoiled is the word that comes to my mind. 98% of teams would love to have the success we have had. I’m ready to be spoiled again! Regardless, I’ll always be on the 50 yard line rooting for the Purple and Gold.
  4. From Warren East to St X with a very special stop on the way! You proved yourself on and off of the field. Relationships more so than championships is what you’ll remember. You always put a good product on the field and in the classroom. I’ll let the smart people post all of the wins, rankings and trophies. Just know that you finished as one of the greatest coaches the Bluegrass has ever known/seen. The hook and ladder now needs to be named after you. Great job, Coach!
  5. You’re unbelievable, Purple88. Great job. I think the magical season for the Spartans comes to a screeching halt and the Rocks, roll. South Warren will certainly be prepared but is just facing a true Bluegrass juggernaut. So hard to believe because South is really good this year but I will predict the Rocks to get the running clock. Green 52 Black 13
  6. I think Atherton wins. Random question about Atherton RB Du Zye Grundy (unbelievable talent) … Does anyone know if this young man is related to Anthony Grundy (RIP) that was from Louisville?
  7. I think Mr. Barber and company will be up for the challenge against the Ravens. Lots of athletes on the field. Impossible to prove and is a mute point but I think if Travy Barber had been healthy all year he would have broken all-time receiving record at BG and probably would/could have been Mr Football this season. He’s healthy and Purples are ready. Gonna be a wet one. Good luck to both teams and hoping for no injuries.
  8. Great job, 88! This has been a Soap Opera season for the Purples but maybe just maybe are beginning to play with some confidence and could be peaking at the right time. I gotta feeling, a playoff run is about to get some traction! Go Purples! Purples 48 Eagles 13
  9. All of these responses are really good with interesting thoughts. But … I just want KHSAA to release the actual times for each of the 6 games that will be played on that early December weekend. I don’t understand why those times are not released to the general public. We’re about 60 days out! Come on KHSAA, let us know!
  10. Interested in knowing when times will be released for each class. Hoping 5A is not the late Saturday game, AGAIN this season!
  11. This could be one of the most “not sure what’s going to happen” games for Purples fans in recent history - maybe even not so recent history! After two games, I believe Purples have more injuries than we do on most ENTIRE seasons. I really think that’s a true statement. Plus, KEY injuries! I hate it for Travy. He had a real shot of breaking all receiving records for BGHS this season. Gets hurt on a hustle play. Two other starting WRs hurt as well. Linebacker, Beau Bryant, out. And, a couple other kids - out. Throw in starting the Frosh at QB for his first varsity start (and, being a road game), things could get interesting. As crazy as it sounds, get those kids back late in season, and we could still see week 15! I say Purples break the losing streak but has to do so in the 4th quarter. Purples 31 Scott 27
  12. Wonderful 88, great job! Purples have more injuries (including all three starting WR’s) after two games than perhaps all of last year season. It has been uncanny Persevere! Add to it, a Freshman QB may get the nod when Purples travel to Toyota land. Will team rally around the talented 14 year old gun slinger? I think they do. keep your foot on the gas Purples. Week 3 could be the momentum change we need. Won’t be easy. Good luck guys!
  13. 88 - You are best, no question about it! Thank you and Go Purples!
  14. I certainly don’t want to throw fuel to the fire but … When he said that if his son got the ball more in the championship game they would have won state. Not sure he’s correct on that one. No way Cooper could have won on that night. He then said that Cooper coach said about the Purples, “they out-athleted” us. Coach was correct, sir. in my humble opinion, if Cooper and BG play again next season in playoffs, unless Adrian Peterson is Coopers running back, it will be the same outcome. Last time I checked, a coach can and will play kids when, where and how they desire. Hence the name, Coach. However much $$ this parent threw into the program and however much he will throw in the court system will be the same result vs the Purples. A loss No one asked me but I stand with the coach. Ridiculous
