Similar to how they decide where they choose to host the State Title, they’ll always cater to the schools in their area. Just the way the KHSAA operates, especially football and I don’t see it ever changing unless you start to get voices from all over rather than just NKY. Just go take a look at the football focus group and tell me that I’m wrong, no regional diversity. There’s not a single reason as to why it shouldn’t be rotated within the big 3 (UK, UofL, WKU), ties with UK have just became stronger as time has went by and when you have a group of people making decisions for their own rather than the State in whole, this is what we get. It should be releasing within a week or two though.

I get why there are logistical reasons why WKU can't host, but that is by far the best atmosphere to host the championship games. I don't care for the 2-3hr drive but Mayfield fans don't care for the 4hr drive to Lexington either.

Yes, but the schedule of class games is released long before the playoffs even start.  Don't see how regional bias comes into play.  The location of the games is a completely different story.

Its almost always 1A, 2A, and 4A on Friday and 3A, 6A, and 5A on Saturday with kick times at Noon, 4pm, and 8pm. I doubt it changes.

They could figure it out if they wanted too. The city itself is an all around better atmosphere, not as much hustle and bustle plus the stadium holds the attendance to give the players a feel of a big time game. Strong beliefs on why it is hands down the best location but also understand that is not what the leaders of KHSAA want to do either.

6A has been last before.  And should take a turn manning that 8pm spot on occasion IMO.

I loved the atmosphere at Western.  Attended the Boyle '09 and '10 state title games and loved it.  But Western's scheduling is too fluid.  Caused the '12 and '13 state title weekends to be pushed to 3 days.  Caused the Rafferty's bowl to be moved to Bowling Green high school this year.  The third day in '12 and '13 was a big deal to the KHSAA.  I liked it at WKU.

BE, I thought 13 was due to weather. As I drove down in a tough ice storm that Saturday and they ended up playing Sunday.

I would like to see 1A go last for once....

I have been to title games at all the venues. I see no difference in the atmosphere at any of them. All the stadiums are too big for the crowd size.

They packed 13k in the Houch and it was easily the best State Championship environment I’ve seen, was electric and honestly gave me that Sweet 16 sort of adrenaline that you can find in Rupp during March for basketball. If that game would’ve been at either of the other two we wouldn’t have had anything close to what was displayed that evening.

I would too as well.

The best stadium for the high school football finals is probably Louisville City's soccer stadium. Seats around 12,000 with even more standing room. With the steep seating I could see it being a rowdy, raucous place for a football game.
