The best stadium for the high school football finals is probably Louisville City's soccer stadium. Seats around 12,000 with even more standing room. With the steep seating I could see it being a rowdy, raucous place for a football game.

I agree with this.  BUT unfortunately, don't think it will ever happen.  Mostly because it's a grass field and a very nice one.  Having 6 demanding games on the grass in early December would likely have long term negative effects from a keeping the grass ready for soccer theme of the venue.

They do a tremendous job maintaining that grass surface with heat lamps that run all the time in certain areas.  I've come through downtown coming home from BG games in the middle of the night and they are on trying to support grass growth.

But there is a certain difference in venues.  Sometimes not a bunch, but certainly a difference from WKU to UofL or UK.

Two of the venues hold 60k, the other holds 20k. I assume you missed that wonderful 2010 ACS/Boyle 4A Championship, it was the perfect storm. They packed 13k in the Houch and it was easily the best St

Football in a soccer stadium you say? We used to be a proper country.

I’d rather a few of us from BGP go to a public park and line a field for our boys than disgrace our sport that way.

I'll assume this is trolling, but in truth, the size of that stadium is about perfect for a high school championship. However, @Purple88 said, it being a grass field is a non-starter for both the soccer team and KHSAA.

Unfortunately I’m not, while it’s silly I know Aaron Fink wouldn’t even entertain the thought of our barbaric sport to take place in that sanctuary. Literal perfection on the pitch. Size wise you’re right on, which is why I believe WKU is a no doubter even though there are some decent lower collegiate stadiums across our State. The facilities are nice enough to give you that D1 feel while also having a capacity that doesn’t make you feel as if you’re playing in front of no one.

EKU would be a great fit too. I watched Hazard and Bardstown play back in 2022. Both teams brought nice crowds.

They use the same technology as Lambeau Field... Maybe the damage would not be so bad. I would love to see it there as well.

All of these responses are really good with interesting thoughts.

But …

I just want KHSAA to release the actual times for each of the 6 games that will be played on that early December weekend.

I don’t understand why those times are not released to the general public. We’re about 60 days out!

Come on KHSAA, let us know!

I do not like the idea that there’s a chance—although outside—for a state championship sellout. I understand that the environment would be awesome, but I would hate to see someone miss a game because the crowd was at capacity or because they got priced out.

What are some standard and record attendance levels at state games? I know UK most of the time feels empty, WKU seemed to have the perfect size, but I know scheduling issues, I was not fortunate enough to see any in Louisville. I wouldn't want things to be sold out, but I would like to know what size venue is necessary.

All this talk of moving the title games...

Don't you all know every little boy grows up dreaming of playing at Kroger Field?
