Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Nothing changes with this defense BG defense is as low as they have been in 20 years. Not sure how (or if) it can be fixed. Refer back to the definition of insanity....

No words (nor excuses) of how bad BG defense is. Last year and this year. It's more than last years injuries and this years youthfulness. Yes, you're playing strong schedule but how often does a BG team score in 40s and get beat? 17 games ago, we were back to back state champs. The last 16 games is the overall worst defensive performance a BG unit has had in DECADES. Folks can fuss on me all they want but there's not 5 people that has followed Purples like I have in past 40 years. The sun will shine again but dark clouds have set in. Our sophomore class could be top 5 class (easily) we've ever had. Our QB is great and is a legit D1 - it's hard to watch the defense. Again, something bad wrong

2026 Bowling Green Purples
Great job, 88! BGHS fans (including me!) have been very spoiled the last few DECADES. Last season was the FIRST season where the, “You don’t rebuild, you reload” statement was not true for the Purples. I don’t think you can name 3 or 4 programs in all of the Bluegrass that has had more recent success than Bowling Green. The Purples must have a dominant offensive line next season. If they don’t, we will have the same record as we had this past season. I know we have other areas that need improvement, but it begins with the offensive line, in my opinion. I never thought we would have to rebuild due to such tremendous success we have experienced but …. we are now back to reality. We can climb to the top again but it will not be immediate. I do think we have a solid QB at the helm. Again, spoiled is the word that comes to my mind. 98% of teams would love to have the success we have had. I’m ready to be spoiled again! Regardless, I’ll always be on the 50 yard line rooting for the Purple and Gold.

Thank you, Coach Kevin Wallace …
From Warren East to St X with a very special stop on the way! You proved yourself on and off of the field. Relationships more so than championships is what you’ll remember. You always put a good product on the field and in the classroom. I’ll let the smart people post all of the wins, rankings and trophies. Just know that you finished as one of the greatest coaches the Bluegrass has ever known/seen. The hook and ladder now needs to be named after you. Great job, Coach!

Trinity 28 South Warren 14 (6A State Championship)
You’re unbelievable, Purple88. Great job. I think the magical season for the Spartans comes to a screeching halt and the Rocks, roll. South Warren will certainly be prepared but is just facing a true Bluegrass juggernaut. So hard to believe because South is really good this year but I will predict the Rocks to get the running clock. Green 52 Black 13

Pulaski County 17 Atherton 0
I think Atherton wins. Random question about Atherton RB Du Zye Grundy (unbelievable talent) … Does anyone know if this young man is related to Anthony Grundy (RIP) that was from Louisville?

Atherton 49 Bowling Green 21
I think Mr. Barber and company will be up for the challenge against the Ravens. Lots of athletes on the field. Impossible to prove and is a mute point but I think if Travy Barber had been healthy all year he would have broken all-time receiving record at BG and probably would/could have been Mr Football this season. He’s healthy and Purples are ready. Gonna be a wet one. Good luck to both teams and hoping for no injuries.

Great job, 88! This has been a Soap Opera season for the Purples but maybe just maybe are beginning to play with some confidence and could be peaking at the right time. I gotta feeling, a playoff run is about to get some traction! Go Purples! Purples 48 Eagles 13

Any news on when State Championship game times will be announced?
All of these responses are really good with interesting thoughts. But … I just want KHSAA to release the actual times for each of the 6 games that will be played on that early December weekend. I don’t understand why those times are not released to the general public. We’re about 60 days out! Come on KHSAA, let us know!

Interested in knowing when times will be released for each class. Hoping 5A is not the late Saturday game, AGAIN this season!

Bowling Green at Scott County Predictions/Updates
This could be one of the most “not sure what’s going to happen” games for Purples fans in recent history - maybe even not so recent history! After two games, I believe Purples have more injuries than we do on most ENTIRE seasons. I really think that’s a true statement. Plus, KEY injuries! I hate it for Travy. He had a real shot of breaking all receiving records for BGHS this season. Gets hurt on a hustle play. Two other starting WRs hurt as well. Linebacker, Beau Bryant, out. And, a couple other kids - out. Throw in starting the Frosh at QB for his first varsity start (and, being a road game), things could get interesting. As crazy as it sounds, get those kids back late in season, and we could still see week 15! I say Purples break the losing streak but has to do so in the 4th quarter. Purples 31 Scott 27

Bowling Green at Scott County Predictions/Updates
Wonderful 88, great job! Purples have more injuries (including all three starting WR’s) after two games than perhaps all of last year season. It has been uncanny Persevere! Add to it, a Freshman QB may get the nod when Purples travel to Toyota land. Will team rally around the talented 14 year old gun slinger? I think they do. keep your foot on the gas Purples. Week 3 could be the momentum change we need. Won’t be easy. Good luck guys!

2025 Cooper Jaguars
I certainly don’t want to throw fuel to the fire but … When he said that if his son got the ball more in the championship game they would have won state. Not sure he’s correct on that one. No way Cooper could have won on that night. He then said that Cooper coach said about the Purples, “they out-athleted” us. Coach was correct, sir. in my humble opinion, if Cooper and BG play again next season in playoffs, unless Adrian Peterson is Coopers running back, it will be the same outcome. Last time I checked, a coach can and will play kids when, where and how they desire. Hence the name, Coach. However much $$ this parent threw into the program and however much he will throw in the court system will be the same result vs the Purples. A loss No one asked me but I stand with the coach. Ridiculous

2025 Bowling Green Purples
Wonderful work, 88! Life without Deuce will certainly be interesting. Just as Deuce was a record setter, the Purples may have another one on their hands. Hard to believe but WR Travey Barber looks to threaten Mr. Football, Nacarius Fants receiving record. What a special talent in Barber. Will be really fun to watch. Upcoming senior, Jaxson Smith may be next years MVP. A 3peat is definitely on the table and a possibility for the Purples. Is it August yet?

Bowling Green 37 Cooper 20 (5A State Championship)
Congrats to Cooper on a great season (again). But… I have said this for many years and it still holds true. “It’s hard to beat speed in any level of football, ESPECIALLY High School.” When the Purples spread out and give Deuce the opportunity to make a play with his arm or feet, it’s probably going to end badly for the opponent. I’ll wait till Deuce’s final playoff numbers come out but I believe he ended his career in 5th or 6th place, all time in KY high school history for yardage. Pretty impressive. also….. Although Deuce won’t be taking snaps next Fall, most of our speedsters return next season - look out. 3Peat? I think so!

TP94 Power Ratings (12/3/24)
If you were at the 5A championship game last year (BG vs Cooper)… I know it was a monsoon and Cooper had some costly turnovers but…. it just seemed BG was bigger, stronger, faster. Purples have their studs back Cooper have their studs back I'm surprised that Cooper is a STRONG favorite Thoughts?

State Finals Attendance
I do not understand why all championship games cannot be played at one of our small college/universities (Campbellsville/Georgetown…) each and every year. The stadiums are very nice and would be big enough to hold the games. A full house/standing room only for a state championship game would be such a nice touch and great atmosphere. Some would argue that the campuses would not be big enough, but I think they would be, in my opinion. I don’t think it will ever happen, but would be cool.

Cooper vs. Bowling Green Predictions/Updates (5A State Championship)
Honest question: Everyone knows both of these teams have stud skill players. Can someone share QB side by side statistics and the top WR side by side statistics?

Cooper vs. Bowling Green Predictions/Updates (5A State Championship)
Great job, 88. We have grown accustomed to your commitment of research and good ole fashion hard work; great job, again this year - thank you! No question about it that Cooper has had a generational type season this year. But, as the great theologian, Lee Corso says, “Not so fast.” I believe the Cooper coaching staff, deep down, knew they were more than capable making it back to Kroger Field and I personally believe that they knew they would be facing the Purples again this season. BG is VERY fortunate to survive the South Warren game in week 14. I encourage anyone to go watch that game and watch the complete debacle with the clock keeper. It was unbelievable throughout the entire game. Purples still find a way! Therefore… The Purples are who Cooper and the rest (99%) of 5A thought the Purples were! I think it’s very fair to say that the monsoon these two teams had to play in last year (along with some costly Cooper turnovers) probably won’t happen again this year. Meaning, we’ve got a great game on our hands. I personally don’t think Cooper has the speed and aggressiveness as South Warrens defense. At least they didn’t last season. However, Cooper does have some studs on the team that is a problem. I don’t think there’s any question that BG has the speed advantage, which to me is always the difference maker in high school football. Of course, turnovers is the great equalizer but if the Purples win the turnover battle, their speed will get them another ring. Purples 45 Jags 28

If you could change one thing about Kentucky High School Football what would it be?
1A- 2A - 3A - 4A Less Teams in playoffs Allow the 4 State Championship Teams to have a chance to be SUPER Champion (1A champ play 2A champ) and (3A champ play 4A Champ) Less Teams in playoffs would still allow a 5 week total playoff scenario if in play this year would allow a Boyle Co to play Trinity for SUPER champion. ALWAYS play the Championship and SUPER championship games to be played at our KY small colleges (Campbellsville, Centre, Georgetown…) Would be a much better atmosphere and most of our high school college athletes will attend these small colleges anyway.

Bowling Green 27 Owensboro 14
Not the most popular statement to make right now but IMO, it’s true… Hampton was underused in this game. I know Purples did great job holding him down but… First and goal and he doesn’t touch ball. Clearly D1 talent. Never sent him in motion, never put him in wildcat, never put him in a slot, never used him as a decoy or misdirection. Iknow their last 7 or so opponents (which is a huge problem) wasn’t a deep run playoff caliber team but rushing 22 attempts vs Purples that are all basically “off tackle” is not going to cut it against a true contender. There were 2 series I know where he never touches the ball. If playbook doesn’t open up for a kid like that, I’m not so sure that extra pages on the playbook even exists. 1600 yards rushing before game started is really misleading vs their competition. Not the kids fault. He’s a player. Just didn’t have an arsenal of different sets to try to get him on the sideline or in open field. Totally, my opinion. If Owensboro goes to second or third round next season, it is going to have to be because they use Hampton in a variety of ways to get the young man on the sideline and/or open field.
