Long TD drive late in the fourth quarter for Sayre. 

Bishop Brossart scored on a safety and field goal.  

This game shows Brossart’s defense is legit this year. I think this is the first touchdown Brossart varsity defense has given up this year. They didn’t give one up in either scrimmage or the first game of the year last week against Walton. It then took Sayre until the last minute of the game. With how Brossart is playing defense, they are going to have a really good year. 

There's a score you don't see every day.  Game must have been either really fun, or like having teeth pulled.

Got to be some disappointed Mustang fans with this game outcome.  Up 5-0 with little over 2 minutes left and Mustang possession at Sayre’s 41.  Totally questionable clock management with two incompletions, holding call and punt.  Time was on their side.  Sayre hits couple short passes, long bomb to 10 and then TD and 2pt conversion for final 8-5.  Feeling Mustang pain tonight.

I believe Brossart's last possession was hold, run, run, incompletion and then punt.  Sayre still had a TO left.  Not sure I consider that questionable clock management.  I would have liked to have seen a fake hand-off and a bootleg by the QB.  Sayre was crashing the line.  I also give credit to the Mustang D.  No prevent defense that last possession.  It took a great pass from Pennington and he delivered.  

Brossart just left too many men on base.

We definitely have the feeling that the big one got away tonight.

Sayre's  Carson Graves ran the opening kickoff back 65 yards to the Brossart 20 yard line, and until 38 seconds remaining in the game that was pretty much that for the Sayre offense.   Neither team was able to dent the scoring column in the first half.  Sayre had a big chance with 1:36 remaining in the half, when they missed on a 33 yard Field Goal that caromed off of the upright.

With 3:39 to play in the third quarter Brossart's Brady Boruske forced a Sayre Safety, giving the home team a 2-0 lead.   At the top of the third period, Brossart threatened by marching the ball 67 yards, which resulted in a 20 yard Max Runge touchdown upping the Mustang lead to 5-0., with 7:06 to play in the game.  It would not be until 38 ticks remained on the clock until Sayre broke a big play, moving the ball from their own 29 to the Brossart 11, and an ensuing 11 yard touchdown pass to Paul Miller, gave the Sayre their first score and lead on the night and a two point conversion sealed the deal with 38 seconds to go.

Devastating loss for our Mustangs.   

Even in losing, I would have to be pretty happy if I was a Mustang fan. Sounds like Brossart is going to be a tough team to beat in 1A.

Was going to say the same thing. I'd say this is one they can actually take something positive out of. 1A seems really open at this point.

I agree. I believe that Raceland is #1 as of now, but there’s definitely more than 1-3 really good teams that many probably assumed. 1A is more interesting than I thought it would be at this point.
