Would anyone like to change their answer? Is Peyton Manning the greatest of all time?

Featured Replies

I don't know if he is the best but he is one heck of a QB. As a fan you have to appreciate that he does things the right way on and off the field. One thing is certain about Manning, no one will ever out work him in game preparation.

Nobody else run that offense. NOBODY. He has to be top 5 without question. Its a little to early to say best ever, but by the end of his career it'll likely be hard to say he isn't.

I will stick by with what I said in a previous post. When I think of the best, the best means that they can play at their top level at anytime and in any condition. Peyton has shown and even today that he dont play that good in conditions that aren't that great. When its cold, rainy, snowy, etc he seems to not be as good and is definitely off. Even today except for the short passes to the runningback he was kind of off. So IMO he is not the best even today, Tom Brady is because Brady does it in all bad weather, and also has shown he is awesome playing in domes which is what peyton plays half of his game in. However with as great as Peytons numbers that would still put him in the top 5 no matter how he plays in other conditions. But I wouldn't put him as the best, because of the reasons I just said...

Some stats (per NFL.com, does not include this year):

3rd highest career passer rating (93.5)

1st highest single season passer rating (121.1)

1st rookie season passes completed (326)

1st rookie season passing yardage (3739)

1st single season TD passes (49)

1st rookie season TD passes (26)

1st (tied) most 4+ TD games in a season (6)

1st most consecutive 4+ TD games (5)

Lets see so you are saying that he is better than the Roger Staubach's and Joe Montana's? I'm not so sure about that.......

Peyton Manning is obviously one of the greatest QB's in NFL of all time but not so sure he is the "best" of them all.

He needs a few more rings. "The Greatest" in any sport are consistant champions.

He won his ring, I'll give him that. But he wasn't impressive in the postseason.

My argument was simple... It would be easier to make an argument for him if he had a ring.

Now he does, so his claim for that opinion based title is as valid as anyone else's.

Those are impressive numbers. However, it has to be noted that he plays the majority of his games inside, in an era in which it is a penalty to give the quarterback a cross look let alone hit him, and in an era where the passing game is completely geared to the offense on the interference calls/illegal contact calls. Pure numbers won't make him the best of all time, numbers from different eras are hard to compare. One thing for sure--he won't be remembered as the best quarterback--that never won a Super Bowl.

No, he is not the greatest of all time and he will never be.

Greatest of all-time....NO, several others have made the Super Bowl and won. Manning accomplished tonight, what many said he could never....but not the greatest ever, yet.

He will be in the greatest discussions, he has earned his spot among the subjects of that topic. But no, he is not the greatest ever, at least not yet. He has a lot to accomplish before I could give him that title.

He's good but not one of the best of all time. Even tonight he showed signs of choking under pressure and making poor throws. The Bears D had a few more picks land in their lap then what they came away with. On the first TD pass, there was a major breakdown in the secondary that sprung Wayne, so anyone could have made that throw.

With that said. He has the numbers, he now has a ring and SB MVP. By the end of his career he may end up being the best of all time, however, he will have to start playing in the post season like he does during the regular season, and not look un-Peyton like in pressure situations.

I would rank Manning number 2, I still think that Favre is the best all time.

Nope, congrats on your 1st super bowl win...still not THE greatest.

One Super Bowl win and you want to crown him the greatest? He may be top 10, but undoubtedly not the greatest!:D

Aikman, Bradshaw, Montana, Young, Elway, Staubach, Starr were all winners of multiple Super Bowls. Peyton ranks right up there with Doug Williams now!
