Memorial looked full tonight on the news. It must have been a great atmosphere for high school basketball.

 

They announced that just over 7500 were at the game.

Scott Co. really played hard. They got some great production from Jordan Lee tonight and some great on the ball defense from Jimmy Warren. It was a totally focused team effort. Portwood hit some big shots and got a few offensive rebounds. Walls and Mackey were great too.

 

Mayo was tough - and even when he was double-teamed was hard to stop. Patterson seemed to get most of his points from offensive rebounds. They should throw him the ball more often.

 

When Scott Co. trapped it seemed like HHS was shocked and appauled that anyone would have the nerve to actually get up in them and play pressure defense. They had a lot of turnovers and THEY were the ones who got tired. It might have been a larger margin of victory if there hadn't been all those TV timeouts. Kudos to Coach Hicks.

 

Crow will be served at mid-court (on top of the Cardinal) at SCHS tomorrow at noon for all the HHS worshipers who said things like "HHS by as much as they want..." It may be a different story when the Cards head to Huntington, but for tonight RED HEAT! GO CARDS!

Great game by Scott Co., Packed house and a lot of fun to watch. They key to the Cards win was the ability to make open 3's and also rebounds. I can’t remember how many times HHS forced a contended shot that missed but Scott Co. came up with O boards time after time. Great win for the state of KY and great win for Scott Co.

Great to see that a talented KY team can play with such a talent rich team. This should send a message about the quality of talent in the big KY.

I'm considering going to the other thread I started "Does Scott Co. have a chance..." and sending out personal invitations to those who were the boldest and most confident that Scott Co. had no chance

Just goes to show again that basketball is a team sport, I said a week or so ago that a Billy Hicks coached team would show up and never back down from a higher rated team, but they did a much more than just showing up!!! Great team victory for the Cards.

I was reading the "Updates" thread about the game. I thought the refs were pretty fair and consistant with their calls.

 

There were a couple of obvious calls I thought they missed: 1. The HHS players dunked in pre-game at least 4 times after the official came down and told them to stop. The game should have started with a techincal. 2. Patterson clearly goal-tended the layup after it had hit the backboard - in the 2nd half. 3. OJ was fouled on one of his drives to the basket in the open floor in the 4th quarter - he made the shot, but it should have been an And-one situation.

 

They let Scott Co. apply good physical full-court pressure, but they let 11 from HHS do the same thing. They only called over the back on HHS if it was obvious. They called quite a few palming the ball calls, but I think they called 3 on HHS and 2 on Scott Co. IMO it was pretty evenly called...

He really flipped a switch with about 3 minutes to go in the game and even the double team couldn't stop him. He's pretty amazing - and almost won it for HHS by himself.

You know, the crazist thing about it all is that Scott Co. never trailed, start to finish. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but Scott never trailed, out coached, and out played HHS. PERIOD! Congrats Cards on a HHUUUUUUUUUUGGEEEEEEEE vicotry!

Yes, Justin played a few years back - was about 6'10 230. I think he's at Berea now.

 

Jordan is a 6'6 Junior who might weigh 175 soaking wet. He had a great game tonight with 17pts and 8 boards. He did a nice job on Patterson too. Jordan is getting some pretty good recruiting letters. When he learns to be consistant he is a HUGE asset to the SCHS team.

Im just wondering, for all those people who were predicting a 30 point lose for Scott Co., Did you really believe that? Or was the prediction out of dislike of Scott Co.?
