Does anyone know why Huntington was so late arriving to the gym?

Good post and I agree.:thumb:

Pretty sad that some of the posters have to spoil the Great winf or Ky schools last night, by belittling the HHS players and team though. My thoughts are that the calls were NOT the same both ways, BUT Scott County outplayed and outhustled HHS and deserved the win. HHS is a Nationally ranked team, and got beat by a Great KY team that should get some National attention now.

BTW, Patterson was not crying or whining, but had every right to be upset with his team, especially the coaching staff.

You are right he did have a right to be upset. But it appears he is whining about not getting the ball( you can't deny that) As far as a HS player talking to the media, and blaming the refs and coach and calling out his teammates. Come on I don't care who you are it is called whining in any language. They think they are an NBA team out there, and there play shows it. If you are going to be the best you have to be disciplined and play as a unit not 2 or 3 individuals. He has no right to be mad at the coach it's rather hard to coach egos. He had no right blaming anyone especially to the media.

Your right Bell but the best part about it is you have a player that can come in and give you some spark in Phares. The kid is a frosh or sophomore( not sure) and a few people i talk to say he is the future of the team. The kid is explosive to the basket and won't back down from anyone.

Phares is a sophomore.

Some guys need to eat some crow. SC outplayed HHS and there can be no excuses for the loss.

Coach Hicks is one of the best, and with a week off to prepare for HHS he definitely took advantage and got his kids ready.

The X factor last night was the play of Jordan Lee. Without the way he played last night, SC could have been in trouble. Warren played great D and actually rebounded pretty well. Portwood hit some big shots and they got what they wanted out of Bud and Matt.

The refs were fair last night. They missed them in both directions and got them right both ways. I expect some home cooking in Huntington with the loss here, so SC will need to be ready again, even with HHS not having Mayo for the game.

If HHS uses Patterson the least bit, they can get Lee in foul trouble and he doesnt have the effect he did last night. Another turning point of the game.

Already speculating huh??

I will tell you one thing I honestly feel a few calls were overlooked last night, but that is just my opinion. Watched it taped again today with a friend that didnt get to see it, same opinion. Like I said earlier, I am tickled to see a KY team be the one to get to knock HHS off the top. HHS underestimated the Cardinals and got beat.

WV refs are not the quality KY's refs are anyway...So I dont think it will so much be home cooking as much as not very good.:thumb:

Phares will be a good one, but I dont know if he was going to be ready quite like Lee was. Jordan came to play last night, and I cant help but think with Phares being a soph. he might have been a littel intimidated by a guy like Patterson. I know they went up against some players in the Beach Ball, but PP is just a man out there and Richie couldnt have done anything with PP either as they could have kept going to him.

Yes, I am.

I've heard plenty of stories about WV refs, and even played a game in Tug Valley in high school, so I've experienced them first hand. They dont take well to people coming in from out of state, and now that SC beat them. They could be in for a long night with the zebras.

Just like a WV team playing in KY or 16th region team going to 15th region.:thumb:

It happens in every sport.:sssh:

Refs werent bad last night. Thats where you guys are off.

Good one!

I stand by my statement that Paintsville with Vanhoose and company beat this team 6 outta 10 times

If I remember correctly Scott County put it to Vanhoose and Company so there is no need to talk about them on a thread about Scott County. It would be nice If there wasn't always someone taking a win away from teams. They won the game against a #1 ranked team there is no need to talk about how other teams could beat Huntington.

Last night might be the Exception not the Rule:thumb:

Sorry, not off. Videotape doesnt lie:thumb:

I wish I was wrong, but not. Looks even worse the second time around.

Once again though, lets dont get into the Ref argument, because SC still outhustled HHS and deserved the win, but it was one sided and I am sure will be repaid the favor later...Which is sad

Hmmm!! A team that averages 91 points a game held to 68. A team that averages 18 more rebounds than their opponets and gets outrebouned on the offensive boards but only outrebounds Scott Co by two on total rebounds. A team that only commits nine turnovers a game all the sudden has thirteen at the half and 24 for the game. A team that shoots around 60% from the field shoots around 34% for the night. Scott co did not shoot much better. Its simple to look at the refs. But look at this, defense won the game and Scott Co. ran with them when no one else tried to and Scott Co wanted it more. You could see it in the first three minutes of the game. Watching Billy Hicks teams over the last 13 years they have not been the most talented at times but seem to play hard all the time and that wins basketball games.

If the refs hosed Huntington they didn't do a very good job of it. Both teams had shot 10 free throws until Huntington started putting SC on the line to stop the clock with a minute to go. I can think of a an obvious goal tending against Patterson that was uncalled. If they were homering HHS why wouldn't they make this obvious call? Let's don't try to make this into something it wasn't. Scott was the better TEAM Friday night. It may be different in two weeks and may not be, but Friday night SC whipped HHS from tip off to buzzer.

Give Scott Co their credit & lay off the officials thing! HHS probably could have won this one if they make any effort at all to go to Patterson. Mayo has to understand he cannot wait until the 4th Q to take it to the next notch against good teams. Maybe he is to unselfish in the first 3 Q's.HHS does these 2 things I think they win.
