I stand by my statement that Paintsville with Vanhoose and company beat this team 6 outta 10 times

I don't think Huntington High School had the #1 ranked team in the USA during the Vanhoose years at Paintsville.

Let's keep this thread on HHS and Scott County. To good of a game, to start discussing what ifs, against previous teams....:thumb:

Great win by Scott County-It is my understanding that Scott Co plays a pretty good West Jessamine(14-6) team tonight.I just wonder how prepared(physically/mentally) they will be for that game.

Huntington's Bruce Senior told the Louisville Courier--Journal: "We'll beat them next time. I'll guarantee you that we beat them."

I agree, BRJB, that HHS struggled offensively. Truth be told, Scott County's defense had quite a bit to do with that - no doubt.

 

I also agree with you on the rematch. HHS will (most assuredly) not be taking Scott County lightly in the next one.

I would obviously like to congratulate Scott County, but I think there were several calls that just went in Scott County's favor.

 

A lot of balls that were rebounded by Huntington, and then knocked out of their hands and out-of-bounds by Scott County were called "Scott County balls." In any other game with different teams, it would have been Huntington's ball. I just think that some of the questionable calls on both sides went in favor of Scott County, whether that would have changed the outcome of the game or not, I don't know. But, I do congratulate Scott County, they really outplayed Huntington and Hicks really outcoached their coach.

 

I think they let the players play. Theres always questionable calls in any game. I thought the game was called pretty fair. I think all the credit goes to Scott County they were the better team. I take offense with people saying the refs favored Scott. I dont think that was the case at all.

Was Tubby at the game???? Probably not since they played Arkansas today but I was just wondering. I dont really know when the players and coaches leave for road games.

This game shows that Kentucky has the best high school coaches in the country. Kentucky kids are fundamentally sound and have a great understanding of the game. We may not have the most talent but we are the best prepared. I have watched games in other states were the coach wouldn't have been permitted to coach grade school in Kentucky. Kentucky loves basketball.

Scott County made our state look great last night. Everyone should be very proud of these young men. Out of all the teams from across the nation that HHS has played, all the nationally ranked teams and huge venues that they played in, HHS has one check in the loss column from nationally unranked Scott County. Pretty sad that some of the posters have to spoil the Great winf or Ky schools last night, by belittling the HHS players and team though. My thoughts are that the calls were NOT the same both ways, BUT Scott County outplayed and outhustled HHS and deserved the win. HHS is a Nationally ranked team, and got beat by a Great KY team that should get some National attention now.

 

BTW, Patterson was not crying or whining, but had every right to be upset with his team, especially the coaching staff.

Some guys need to eat some crow. SC outplayed HHS and there can be no excuses for the loss.

Coach Hicks is one of the best, and with a week off to prepare for HHS he definitely took advantage and got his kids ready.

The X factor last night was the play of Jordan Lee. Without the way he played last night, SC could have been in trouble. Warren played great D and actually rebounded pretty well. Portwood hit some big shots and they got what they wanted out of Bud and Matt.

The refs were fair last night. They missed them in both directions and got them right both ways. I expect some home cooking in Huntington with the loss here, so SC will need to be ready again, even with HHS not having Mayo for the game.

If HHS uses Patterson the least bit, they can get Lee in foul trouble and he doesnt have the effect he did last night. Another turning point of the game.
