Scott Co. 72 HHS 68

I am not a Scott County fan, but did watch part of the game Friday night and saw no calls I thought favored either team. For some people to get on here and credit the win to the reffs, they must be true Scott County haters. Congratulations on a great win.

And I am sure that is the case with someone like RedBlood. There are tons of people out there that hate Billy Hicks and Scott Co. They hate the fact that they have a built in recruiting tool with Toyota. They cant stand SC for reasons beyond that, and they dont want to believe these big timers got beat by a team from Kentucky. I am as objective as anybody watching referees, and there is no way that anybody can put this on the refs.

Bellalumni to the best of my knowledge only 1 kid in their 1st 10 or so players have a parent who works @ Toyota. His Dad has been there something like 15 years so they did not recruit him. I also believe the past 2-3 years did not have any parents employed at Toyota.

I know that it is not as big of a factor as some people believed. In the past the plant has been beneficial to them. And it is not that the ball team has anything to do with it, it just happened to bring them some kids in the past.

I have been around a lot of Scott County kids the last couple of years, and they have a tendency to play harder and have more confidence than most other kids, you have to give credit to Coach Hicks for that. His kids don't get intimidated by anyone and they come to play- HARD

Congrats on a great win and I want to be the first to say I expect them to repeat the effort in Huntington.:thumb:

First of all lets get one thing clear, I am not a fan of WV teams, especially being from Boyd County, that is all I hear about it. I get sick and tired of hearing about HHS and am tickled about the results of the game, especially knowing it was a KY team that won.

For you to bring my personal name up is in no context to the subject of this forum and did not need to be brought up. I stated my point and I have the game taped, nothing you can say or do will change what I watch on the TV. I could sit right here and watch it again and still feel the same way. Williams obviously got fouled on two layups towards end of game and Mayo got fouled twice also. But like I said before HHS got outhustled and deserved to lose.

I personally have nothing against Scott County, but the Toyota recruiting thing is no surprise, to anyone. But the way the other area teams do there, they have to do it to survive. Too bad Billy couldnt have helped his brother out a bit more at Greenup. Wait, maybe he did, maybe that is why he needs a new job. Must be in the blood.

Your last paragraph sums you up as we all know what your intentions where. Jim Hicks is his nephew. What does this have to do with the game. I can only say after being in this business for a long time and working with a former KHSSA commisioner for several years. The first thing he told me was you cannot reason with ignorance. I have firmly lived by this.

Just a little fact for all of those that LOVE to talk about Scott County recruiting. Only ONE player for Scott county has parents that works for Toyota and he doesn't see varsity time. For all of those that love to hate Billy Hicks he just out coached the #1 team in the nation. It's sad that everyone is trying to take this game away from them talking about the refs. But i mean i guess toyota payed the refs in all of the other games they have played this year. I guess the checks got lost when they played Arlington.

Catzrule, like KHSB1 said, you can't reason with ignorance. RebBlood should be ignored. Its a jealousy thing with him.

Redblood all my life I have heard the same thing about Ashland sports & what a good recruiting tool they have with Ashland Oil for the last 60 years. True or not this will be the perception of the genreral public when a certain town has the beenfit of a major corporation in their community.

I agree shooter. They have confidence they are going to win before going in & that is something that is expected & learned from their tradition. This is exactly what tradition will do for any program.Give them their cedit.
