We just lost to Arkansas. 

Arkansas a team that plays in a power conference. 

They are coached by a national championship winning coach.

They had the #3 ranked recruiting class for this season.

Oakland a program ninety some percent of the earth's population had never heard of. 

Oakland a program ninety some percent of the earth's population still thought was in California, until after bouncing us out of the tournament last year.

Point being, getting bounced from the NCAA tournament by Oakland last year, was way worse than losing to Arkansas tonight. 

A final point with the info above if I was an Arkansas fan I would ask how this Arkansas team even with their win last night is still 2-6 in league play.

One last thing that I noticed last night about Coach Cal during the game as compared to his last 3-4 years at Kentucky was this: Not one time did I hear or see him screaming like a mad man at his players or the officials. He actually coached his team. I still remember how our 2023-2024 season came to an end. ?‍♂️

Seems like Arkansas has been playing a little better since Boogie Fland when down. While he may have been the most talented player, sometimes the team chemistry doesn’t fit with that talented player. Now with him out, it seems to have allowed a couple of other guys to get on track.

UK fans make it hard to root for their team.  In general I could care less if UK wins or losses. Last night was different though I was rooting for Coach Cal.  UK fans had it coming by going out of their way to enjoy Arkansas’ unsuccessful season a little to much.  For the UK team it’s just another conference loss (even though the fans built this game up as if it was the national title game) and should have no lasting effect on a flawed UK team that won’t last long when tournament time rolls around.

See the only thing this game showed was the exact same thing we seen all year. This team has the ability to beat anyone as evident by 6 wins over top 15 teams. However, this team also has the ability to lose to anyone. Which is why I said after the Tennessee game it is hard to truly know how this team would do tournament wise. It would not be a surprise at all if went on a deep run, because they have shown they can beat the top teams. However, it wouldn’t be a Surprise either if they don’t get out of the first weekend. This team has shown they can go either way this year.

Not exactly sure what your point of this is. As a fan base a lot of you have said Cal can’t coach. Cal offense sucks, he doesn’t know how to coach defense and all that. Cal honestly last night did a lot of the same things as a coach he always did. His offense was the same as it was at UK, our defense just sucks here so far with Pope. On defense Cal had Arkansas doing the same thinks as he always had UK defense do here and slowed down Popes good offensive scheme. Cal even did his usual of subbing some players out quick if they went in and made a mistake. Now as regards to yelling, there wasn’t much need for him to yell considering how well they were playing. 
 

Now in regards to UK this year. You’re correct regular season win or loss is the same as tournament win or loss.  UK is still the same team they were before last night. A team that we know can get hot and score a lot, and a team that is bad defensively. It’s a team that has shown it can go on a deep run, but it is also a team that has shown it can very easily get upset in the first round.

One thing I found humorous, I actually laughed when the announcers said it - UK Arkansas is a big rivalry. That is funny. I have been a UK fan my whole life and I have never considered Arkansas a rivalry of any kind. They are just another SEC team. That was all TV hype trying to say this is some kind of a rivalry. Now with Cal as coach, UK fans really wanted that win but not because of some historic rivalry.

No way they are better without him, best shooter and ball handler and go to guy.

He called a timeout when Kentucky went up 18-12 and I about lost it. He NEVER called timeouts when you'd expect them. I was shocked.

It was just not wanting to be shown up by your ex.  Pitino went through the same stuff.

Coaches Coach and players play…against Oakland, players choked (Reed especially)…

Last night UK choked (especially Olweh and Brea)…

when UK isn’t hitting shots… Pope panics. 
 

I say all that as a huge UK fan of 40+years…

Now offensively I agree in regards to Cal going back to his old offensive scheme probably was not the best move, and is a reason why his team has struggled to score this year.  Last night it worked, but it was more because Pope’s defense has been horrible so far. Now in regards to coaching defense. Cal’s defense historically besides last year has always usually been good. So how Cal teaches defense is not a bad thing for Arkansas. Just like as we see just because Pope may be willing to change defenses, doesn’t mean he is good so far at coaching defense.
