Coach Spader is retiring from teaching.

This is a required formality based on that change in status from active teacher to retired as I'm told.

He has to apply, but he is staying for sure is what I'm told.

Correct.  To retire from teaching & draw full benefits, yet while returning to just coach (and, still get paid for that).

There is a 90 day required window per the KTRS where you can’t be employed/paid (and, maybe even be on the grounds of school in an active, all things “educational role”).

Coach Chris Seabolt named Director of Facilities for Bowling Green Independent School District.  Coach Seabolt was Associate Head Coach/OC (I think for 5 years) and OLine Coach (I think for 10 years)

When I go to BG games, I always stop and eat Rafferty's before the game. My personal BG tradition. Lol.

  • Great write-up @Purple88,  I look forward to another run at a state title for the purples!

So do we have an "Open Job" or not?

Based on the information I have and the above items from Calico Jack, my opinion is no we do not have an Open Job.  Open Job implies there is a void created by the removal/moving on of the former coach and the need for a new coach.  IMO that does not apply to this situation at BG at this time, as it is a formality to ensure Coach Spader sets up and receives his due retirement income per KHSAA/KTRS rules.

Sounds like the same thing Joe Morris did 3 or 4 years ago - a couple years before he really did retire.

No. There is no open job at BG.

This will be an interesting year for Bowling Green. I'm curious how they will do with a new QB from Douglass. I think Owensboro can beat them in the playoffs this year.

You think it’s highly probable Apollo beats Owensboro (great shot)….and that team that won’t beat Apollo will now beat BG???   We are going to send some over for a welfare check there buddy.

Man, Apollo must live in your head rent free if you are bringing them up on a BG post!

Yep, fairly common occurrence to do it right around this time of year. Allows your 90 day restriction to pass and get back right before the dead period.

Yes and they sent a welfare check to me.

Saturday concluded one of the more remarkable careers for any Bowling Green High School Purple, as Deuce Bailey was one of 6 standout Seniors on BGs Basketball team that made it all the way to the final day and final game coming up just short to Great Crossings and finishing as State Runner-up.

Some of Deuce's stats are below and as Mr. Scott said below Deuce is 1 of 1.

Thanks for the great ride 2!!!

Best of luck going forward and I'll be cheering for you at Missouri State!  They got a steal!!!
