Like I mentioned earlier if OHS hires within I would expect a mass exodus of players! I don’t think OHS fans will have to worry I honestly think it will be an elite hire!

I hope you are right!

Owensboro will always struggle match BG and SW because of the Owensboro Catholic impact. OC thins the talent pool of Owensboro in a way that neither BG or South have to deal with.

Disagree.  Catholic if they get someone historically is because the kid is a decent athlete but doesn’t start or play much at O.  Crowe is the first big loss that I know of.  Actually O got a QB a few years ago from Catholic.  O didn’t struggle with SW last year - swamped them.  If O has a top notch coach, you will most likely see kids from Daviess County/Apollo and even OCath that will probably be playing football for Owensboro.

No team in Owensboro has won a State Title in 35+ years. In the last 15 years, BG and SW have won 11.

There are probably 5-10 kids on O-Cath each year that could start for OHS and make them better. Owensboro CLEARLY has an issue that handicaps them that the BG area does not. You may think it’s coaching, but I would strongly state that it is the split that O-Cath causes. 

Also worth mentioning, there are about 21k students in WCPS/BGISD v. 14k students in DCS/OISD. That’s pretty significant. Some have said the two areas are relatively the same size. 

All this is to say, for OHS to pull Brandon Smith from SW, they would have to make a pretty dramatic paradigm shift in terms of their commitment as a district to football. I don’t see that happening.

Calico Jack made the point that coaches with state championships on their resume seldom leave for other jobs.

I don't think it's tough to make a case that Senior has a good shot at making a real run at the 5A title in the next couple of years. What about after that, though, like once their current bounty of talent has graduated? And as a metropolitan area, Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, and Covington/Newport/Bellevue are all larger than Owensboro, so that's fighting against them in terms of Senior drawing a coach away from a successful program in one of those areas. Senior also does have Catholic to compete with for athletes. Not saying Senior is losing large numbers by actual transfer, but to not acknowledge that having a program just across town that's competed in the state finals for 2 straight years is competition for your program's athletic draw is to have your head buried in the sand.

Does Senior have enough going on to make someone like Brandon Smith who is already set up with a working system in a state championship winning program want to scrap what he's got, likely lose all but maybe a couple of their assistants by leaving their current program, move their family to a new city, figure out if they do or don't like the existing coaching staff at the new program and learn how to work with them, and start all over new?

And with it's location on I-65 and proximity to Nashville, the growth potential for Warren County/Bowling Green far exceeds that of Daviess County/Owensboro, meaning the gap (whatever size it is) is probably going to get larger. Owensboro should always be able to compete but this is a pretty big hire; they need to get it right.

Craig Yeast would be very interesting. 

I know a lot of folks are pouring cold water on the Kevin Wallace rumors but I wouldn't be so quick to do that.  I think there may be some legs there.  Time will tell.  I think former Father Ryan Coach Brian Rector also has some serious interest in the job as well.

The more I hear, the more I expect the hire to come outside the current staff.  I know past history says otherwise, but I think the administration realizes the program needs some fresh blood in it.  With more kids leaving the program than coming into it, I think the message has been received.  Again, that is not a shot at Coach Fallin or anyone in the building at OHS.  Even some of the greatest coaches of all time have gotten stale and needed a change.  This should be a fun month of speculation at the very least!

I see what you are saying now.  I misunderstood.  Yes by those kids going to a private school ohs would have alot.  I don’t think the cities are that different yes BG is growing but both O and SW pull a ton of athleticism.
