  • I think Owensboro is a fine study in the realities of high school coaching hiring in Kentucky now.  Schools like Owensboro, premier jobs in the present and from days past, where there is a qualit

He's a 2005 Hancock County grad. That'd put him around 37 years old, so if he's a family man, there's a good chance he's got kids who are getting right around the age where sports get to be a big thin

Here is the facts about KYHSFB. IMVHO, there are a lot more good coaches than there are programs.   ...know what? Scratch that. The number of bad programs is the vast majority. I have a

I'm admittedly curious about where all the Kevin Wallace talk is stemming from.

He seems like he has a pretty great setup in Louisville right now. And I've gotta think Owensboro would be hard pressed to get him a better salary than he's getting at St. X....so what's making people think he's gonna wanna pick up and move 2 hours away?

Wishful thinking, no rhyme or reason to the madness.

So when does Chuck Smith become the front runner for this one?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

That’s funny cause word on the street is Wallace sent his resume and has officially applied for the job!

He's not going to Owensboro. History has shown Owensboro hires within and nothing will change.

I’m telling you they won’t this time around and if they do get ready for a mass exodus of players to transfer!

Is Fallin staying in the building? Or is he moving into a administration position? Does Owensboro usually "make-up" a position?

He’s still planning on teaching is what he said last week!

I see them just hiring from within. If so then I think it's Blake Roberts or Will Barnes.

What about Craig Yeast, would he be interested in coming back to Owensboro?

Do you go after Morris at O Cath?

For God sakes no!!!  Edge at Apollo before Morris.  Morris inherited a great program.  Edge was the architect.

SW is inline to get a turf field in the very near future and just built a multimillion dollar indoor turfed facility. They have big time donors that make sure they are well taken care of.  I have a hard time believing Smith or Wallace have interest in leaving cities like BG or Louisville for a town such as Owensboro.  Just my opinion.  I do hope that O gets a great coach, as it would be good for the program and community.  Just not sure with the dominance of BG year in and year out that it is going to draw huge names like it used to.  Maybe I am completely wrong, but again this is what I believe to be true.

I’m sure SW has money - so does Owensboro.  Owensboro was the 3rd biggest city in KY forever until BG overtook them.  They are still close to the same size. 61k to 75k.  Both have similar amenities.  WKU is bigger than KWC yes, but as far as schools, restaurants, etc.  very similar size.  Leaving cities like BG for towns like Owensboro.  Owensboro is basically the same size.  Counties both have over 100k.

South Warren just put up a multimillion dollar facility, grass/turf argument is dependent on who you ask but I believe it should be coming, they’re the only county school without it yet the newest of the four. Technology in the sense of film/meeting rooms, and in the weight room they have the ability to maximize their production thanks to some people who have money to spare and enjoy the program. I’m sure OB can give him similar things but one lone win against the Spartans that happened to be last year sure is meaningless when you compare the Championships, Smith is South Warren football and will continue to be, and in my opinion they have a team that is built to compete in 6A ball. Wallace wouldn’t dare go out there either, left BG for X, why in the world would he downgrade at this point in his coaching career? Whoever they end up getting will be a happy camper because like you mentioned the talent is rich, just don’t see any reason why those two guys would go further West.

Smith made SW - not the other way around.  I think you may agree with that.  Smith would be king in Owensboro and would make Owensboro go over the top IMO.  Similar size cities (3rd and 4th biggest there are in KY).  Both have loads of talent and speed.  O has a huge home field advantage due to Rash.  Does Smith want to battle the big schools in Louisville and Lexington each year and beat the daylights out of west KY 6A?  Or does he want to go on a run at O and hang several banners - to me it would be tempting and I think he would at least think - I don’t know his family situation.

Wallace I believe would be a great move for him.  He didn’t make X it was already made.  He loved killing Owensboro at BG, so why not turn it around!  I can see him coming.

It may all be wishful thinking but. Owensboro is a huge opportunity.

They always do - but the AD needs to be replaced if he botches this.
