I disagree. Highlands tends to play better on the road for whatever reason. When they have had slow starts they tend to be at home. 

How much of a homefield advantage is there when district opponents 30 minutes apart play?

There is no shock in Highlands winning.  Its really a toss up and some lean towards Cooper, some lean towards Highlands.  Highlands is not some huge underdog.

Highlands is still Highlands, the whole "nobody believes we can do it" mantra just doesn't resonate here. I'm taking Cooper in the poll but there isn't any world where I would be shocked to see a Bluebird W.

FWIW, Highlands has allowed 78 points since Game 1, Cooper has surrendered 115.

Now that's something. 

Maybe one of the biggest upsets in Sports history right here.  Every time I revisit this game or see highlights I get goose bumps.  Kinda like how I will feel Friday night.  let's GO BIRDS! let's GO BIRDS!  "Do you believe in Miracles!!!!"  The similarities to this game and Friday night are just so uncanny....You poll 10 people, at least 8 of them would think this was the Gold Medal game, BUT it was just the Semi Final match, just like this Friday night game is.... Mind Blown!

 

I think Cooper is going to win in what should be an amazing semifinal football game. I know each team has won on the opponents field over the past couple seasons, which is interesting. I just feel like it is Cooper’s year. If Highlands is to win I wouldn’t consider it a surprise or upset. Both teams are very good and have been playing excellent football. I do believe that this game is for the state championship, good luck to both teams!

Ok I do love some MIracle on Ice and yes the percentage may be higher than that thinking this was the gold medal game.   But they did beat Finland 4-2 to win the gold.  I have to laugh at your comparisons on this game but I am enjoying them.  Nothing wrong with being the superfan!

This has me wondering.... does the anticipation for this game even begin to approach the great Highlands/CovCath region finals of yesteryear?

How does this one stack up to those rematches and maybe even the Beechwood/NewCath rivalry from the 00s?

A lot of those games are steeped in NKY lore. The Birds and Jags feel destined to join that pantheon.

Frank you have a flair for the dramatic....but if your Birds win it's not quite as surprising as the Miracle on Ice lol. I mean your team has won what, 23 titles maybe?

I think Bowling Green and South Warren feel the same way. RPI worked just like it was supposed to in 5A.
