No they won't BUT I WILL!!! Just like Hulk took down Andre the Giant in the biggest WWF upset, David vs Goliath match!

Both teams have scored 351 points since the first meeting.  What does that tell us? I just thought it was a cool little tidbit, further illustrating how close these teams are. FWI

Though I do love your prediction for the birds next season , it’s only right to make sure you know these two will still be playing after this season.

I actually didn’t realize that, but I love hearing that. I think that is great for both programs to continue playing, even though they won’t be in the same district next year. It has turned into a great rivalry.

It's official! I am super excited to say I'll be at Randal K. Cooper High School in 6 days time broadcasting the 5a state semi finals!

The support on the radio station has been phenomenal. 1700 listeners on the last road game at Woodford County.

Tune in at the link below. Go Birds!

How would that be an upset? The last three meetings have been decided by 7, 2, and 3. Seems pretty even to me.

This is going to be the best game in the state on Friday night. Highlands should be "foaming at the mouth" for this game Friday after Cooper spoiled their run last year. The Bluebirds can't let that cloud their mind, though, and make game changing mistakes if they want to win.

Cooper is the #1 team in the state for a reason, they are darn good. That offensive attack is elite and the defense forces turnovers. Will the Birds be able to impose their will up front and run the ball with their college sized Offensive Line? They better if they want to drive back from Longbranch Road with a win.

With the four 5A teams left there are no upsets. All very good. The fewest mistakes will win each game.

Interesting.

Went back through the film of these two teams. My goodness they are really good at what they want to do. And they also have their kids in great spots to do it. I’m like most folks here I believe this will be a close game and a high scoring affair. The crap weather conditions lead to both teams slowing down and taking what was given in round one. This time around I fully expect both teams to go off. This will be an exciting game and whoever wins this contest (my opinion) will be hoisting the trophy. I believe that team will be Cooper this week. O’Hara has too many weapons at his disposal and not only can he make all the throws, his receivers can make all the catches. If not for Alexander being out a couple games he may have had 3 receivers in the top 15 in 5A. While everyone points to the passing game they have quietly ran the ball very effectively and have a top 10 rusher in Maher. This team is a match-up nightmare to plan for.

For the Birds to have a chance they will have to find a way to pressure O’Hara and get him off the X. Clock management, and the run game has to show up for the Birds this week. The pressure is on Cooper for this one so by keeping close, maybe the ol psychological edge goes to Highlands. Litmer can pick you apart if you are not careful; this is why I think the game stays relatively close. Highlands is structured for a shootout like this, so if they prevail it would not surprise me. However, I believe that for as good as Highlands can be, they are still young, and a player or two away from competing with the Jags.

*Bold prediction* Highlands will run the table next season as a top 5 team in this state. They have had some very nice contributions from younger players and will be stacked for 2025. I am glad we don’t have to be one of their victims.

If Highlands runs the table next year then they will have had a GREAT season.

Agreed.  Cooper is undefeated and beat both Highlands and Ryle during the regular season.  They have all the playmakers and "BIG NAME" players.  They are also the state runner-up team from last year and have done everything they have been asked to do and are expected to do this year.  Cooper has been written down as state finalist for most of the year.  If Highlands can go to Union and somehow win with a couple seniors and largely the rest sophomores and juniors....BIG UPSET.

Cooper is, and has been, the large favorite all year long to play in Lexington on 12/7.

I'm planning on going to this one on Friday. I watched their regular season game on TV when it was moved to a Saturday earlier in the year. These two teams look very competitive. Should be a close, tight ballgame.

I get the fact that some people are in denial that this wouldn't be an Upset, but to keep with the Frank theme of the week...Enjoy another Upset that occurred to fuel my optimism...been a long year! (for that matter, been a long 10 years)
